　　好吧，我告诉你哈! keep sb from doing sth/ prevent sb from doing sth. 我厉害吧～!

　　同学们，有关“阻碍，防止”的表达除了以上的表达外还有哪些?

　　1. thwart.

　　V-T If you thwart someone or thwart their plans, you prevent them from doing or getting what they want. 阻挠; 挫败

　　例：

　　The security forces were doing all they could to thwart terrorists.

　　安全部队正尽其所能挫败恐怖分子。

　　Eg: 家长应该防止任何对于孩子成长有害的因素如沉溺网络，盲目追星

　　Parents should thwart any potential threats to the growth of children such as the addiction to Internet and blind worship for stars. (From: A/D: The government should cover the Internet fees.)

　　2. hinder

　　V-T If something hinders you, it makes it more difficult for you to do something or make progress. 阻碍

　　例：

　　Further investigation was hindered by the loss of all documentation on the case.

　　由于有关此案的材料全部丢失，进一步的调查受到了阻碍。

　　Eg: 社会发展促进了经济的巨大进步，阻碍经济发展的因素也正在逐渐减少，人们的生活水平逐渐提高了。

　　Social progress has contributed to considerable economic advance and the headwinds hindering growth are abating, thus; the average life is experiencing a gradual improvement. (From: A/D: the fast development of urban cities is a positive trend. )

　　3. hamper

　　V-T If someone or something hampers you, they make it difficult for you to do what you are trying to do. 妨碍

　　例：

　　The bad weather hampered rescue operations.

　　恶劣的天气阻碍了救助行动。

　　Eg: 花太多时间照顾宠物会妨碍孩子们对于他们学习时间的投入。

　　Spending too much time caring for a pet will hamper children’s devotion to their study. (A/D: parents should permit children to keep pets.)

　　4. impede

　　V-T If you impede someone or something, you make their movement, development, or progress difficult. 阻碍

　　例：

　　Debris and fallen rock are impeding the progress of the rescue workers.

　　瓦砾和落下的岩石正阻碍着救援人员的进程。

　　Eg: 连续超过11个月时间的学习会妨碍对于学生们的未来来说很重要的兴趣爱好的培养。

　　The study of more than 11 months will impede the cultivation of hobbies and interests that matter for students’ future development. (A/D: students will receive a more efficient education when they spend more than 11 months at school.)
