　　1.amenable: （形）应服从的willing to obey or take advice or suggestion(opp disobedient)

　　People living in a country are amenable to its laws.

　　一个国家的人民有服从法律的义务。

　　2.casual: （形）偶然的happening by chance; not planned; informal(opp intentional)

　　Our long friendship began with a casual meeting at a Christmas party.

　　我们长久的友谊是从一次圣诞节宴会的偶然相遇开始的。

　　3.condense: （动）缩写put into a smaller or shortened form; say briefly(opp expand)

　　A long story can sometimes be condensed into a few sentences.

　　一篇长篇故事常常可以缩写成几个句子。

　　4.detach:

　　(1)（动）分开.part; separate; unfasten or remove from(opp attach)

　　The engine was detached from the body of the train.

　　这引擎是从火车上所分解而来。

　　(2)（动）派遣.send away on special duty

　　One squad of soldiers was detached to guard the important road and bridge.

　　一班士兵被派去防守重要的路段和桥梁。

　　5.exaggerate: （动）夸大make too large; say or think (something) greater than it is(opp underestimate)

　　He exaggerated the dangers of the trip in order to frighten them into not going.

　　他为了阻止这次旅行，夸大它的危险以使他们害怕。

　　6.inadequate: （形）不充分的not enough; not sufficient; not equal to what is necessary(opp sufficient)

　　He was tired because he had had inadequate sleep last night.

　　他因为睡眠不充分而感到十分疲劳。

　　7.literate: （形）受过教育的able to read and write; educated(opp uneducated)

　　A literate person can get knowledge through reading books.

　　一个受过教育的人可以通过读书而获得知识。

　　8.mansion: （名）大厦a very large house, usually that of a wealthy family(opp hut)

　　That old mansion has more than twenty rooms.

　　那幢旧大厦有二十多间房间。

　　9.meek: （形）温顺的mild and gentle; not easily angered(opp violent)

　　He isn’t bad-tempered; he is as meek as a lamb.

　　他的脾气并不坏，他温顺如羔羊。

　　10.zeal:（名）热诚 strong and active interest; enthusiasm(opp negligence)

　　A good citizen works with zeal for his country’s interests.

　　一个好公民为了国家的利益会辛勤的工作。

　　11.merciful: （形）宽大的；慈悲的；仁慈的ready to forgive people and show them kindness

　　They asked her to be merciful to the prisoners.

　　他们要求她对犯人要以慈悲为怀。
