　　20161126托福第二篇文章The Cinema重复16.09.10原题。

　　难点预告：生词陡增+用语灵活+难句遍布+语义抽象+表达文学化

　　The Cinema(电影)，全文起头第一句“Cinema was the child of photography.” 就是一个文学化表达，奠定了全文的语言调调。紧跟着第二句话秉持了这一语言风格，外加内容的思辨性。最后一段第1句“In its approach to personalities, film followed in the footsteps of theater…”秉承全文的文学调调，还好语义尚可理解。第2句“The worship of performers tended to glorify certain actors and actresses who were regarded, even off the stage, as larger than life.”什么叫“larger than life”，过于文学化的表达，按照字面意思先感受一下“生命不可承受的，比生命大的”，所以是“传奇式的，不同凡响的”。下一句“Thanks to the nature of the medium, however, these performers were as removed from the public in one sense as they were accessible to it in another.”首先，这是一个省略句，补全为“Thanks to the nature of the medium, however, these performers were as removed from the public in one sense as they were accessible to the public in another sense.”补全之后仍不能理解，属于语义抽象的问题，关键在于理解什么叫做“removed from the public”和“accessible to the public”。其实这两个意思正好相反，大家可能已经感觉到了。“removed from the public”意思是远离观众，因为电影中的人物都是被提前录在影像带里，和观众并不真实接触(不像舞台戏剧表演);“accessible to the public”意思是接近观众，这个要看下文解释，从哪个角度讲它又是接近观众的。由于篇幅关系，我先讲到这里，考生感受一下这篇文章的语言功力，提升自己的备考档位。详细的三篇文章体系串讲看文末附录的思维框架图。

　　第7题According to paragraph 3,all of the following were true of the European economic recovery EXCEPT

　　解析：此题难点之一在于题干对整段发问，需阅读整段信息作答;难点之二在于四个选项在原文对应的考句均为长难句。如选项A对应句子“Much of the investment went into equipment for new products and processes, since during the preceding years a backlog of technical innovations had built up that only awaited capital and skilled labor to be employed.”首先需要认识关键词“backlog”，是“积压、未做”的意思。然后顺读句子，整句话意思是：很多资本注入到新产品和新生产过程所用的设备上，由于前些年技术创新的积压(即没有技术创新)使得只能依靠资本和熟练劳动力的雇佣来拉动经济。所以A选项“It was achieved without the help of skilled labor”与原文矛盾，答案就选A。

　　提醒，A选项的对应考句的后半部分“…since during the preceding years a backlog of technical innovations had built up that only awaited capital and skilled labor to be employed.”从语法上来说是有问题的，但从意思流动上，语言学习者应该能够感受到语意的流动。最终“意思为王”，突破句子结构限制，推动思维向下延伸。

　　解析：此题对应考句为：During the first flush of the success of the Marshall Plan, many observers incorrectly deduced that physical or financial capital alone would suffice to bring about development, and several grandiose projects based on that false premise were undertaken elsewhere, only to end in failure and disillusionment. 句中有很多生词，整句话意思是：在马歇尔计划成功的第一波浪潮涌动中，许多观察人员错误地推理认为，单靠有形无形的货币资本就足以推动经济发展，但建立在这样错误理解基础上的其他地方开展的几个大型工程最终只能以失败和幻灭而结束。所以，要想成功，还需其他因素，这个因素就是段首提及的人力资本，即受过教育的劳动力。所以正确答案选C“The lack of an adequately skilled and educated workforce”。
