Thesis 总论点Mercury should not be used in dentistry.Refute the three explanations mentioned in reading passage.
Sub-point 1 分论点1Mercury will cause health problem.Only a few people will absorb Mercury. People who suffer health problem are those who are allergic to mercury.
Sub-point2 分论点2Mercury will cause pollution problem.Separators can help to avoid this pollution problem. When water that contains mercury goes through separators, it can be filtered, thus will not pollute water.
Sub-point 3 分论点3There are alternative materials in dentistry.The mouth always remains a wet state and only mercury can be kept in wet state in long periods. Besides, gold can be expensive, and if in the United States the mercury in dentistry is all replaced by gold, the expense will increase tremendously.

　　The reading and listening discuss about whether Mercury should not be used in dentistry. The passage mentions three disadvantages of mercury being used in dentistry. Whereas, the professor totally refutes the three points presented in the passage.

　　Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that Mercury will cause health problem. The professor claims that only a few people will absorb Mercury. People who suffer health problem are those who are allergic to mercury.

　　Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s statement that Mercury will cause pollution problem. The professor mentions that separators can help to avoid this pollution problem. When water that contains mercury goes through separators, it can be filtered, thus will not pollute water.

　　At last, the passage states that there are alternative materials in dentistry. However, the professor explains that the mouth always remains a wet state and only mercury can be kept in wet state in long periods. Besides, gold can be expensive, and if in the United States the mercury in dentistry is all replaced by gold, the expense will increase tremendously.
