Thesis 总论点The reading points out three reasons to explain why sea star population declines.Refute the three explanations mentioned in reading passage.
Sub-point 1The parasite attachés itself to sea star, and thus affects star’s health.This parasite only affects star’s reproductive organ and thus only affects star in its reproductive season. But disease appears during the whole season.
Sub-point2The bacteria in the shellfish, which is the food of sea star, cause sea star decline.For most sea stars, they can tolerate bacteria, so this bacterium is harmless to sea star. Therefore, there must be another reason to cause sea star decline.
Sub-point 3Water temperature rising weakens the sea star’s immune system.Research found the water temperature in area where the disease outbreaks is quite moderate. Besides, the disease outbreaks in the area where the water wave is much calmer than other areas; the reason is still in the mysterious.
