　　Some professors prefer to give regular quizzes. Some prefer to give surprising quizzes. Please talk about the advantages and/or disadvantages of surprising quizzes. Please use details and examples to explain why.

　　学生们近些日子经常有安排好的各种考试和测试，有些教授喜欢搞一些惊喜测试。然而惊喜测试有的学生喜欢有的学生不喜欢。惊喜测试是教授没有事先通知，突然进行的一种课堂测试。请陈述惊喜测试的优点和缺点，或陈述惊喜测试的优点或缺点

　　考题解析

　　这是Task1中经典的Free-choice题目的Qualities/ Characteristics问题的开放类题目中的优缺点题目，注意给出优缺点，并给出合理解释即可，切忌不可给出模棱两可的答案。

　　参考答题思路：

　　1、Advantages:

　　SD:

　　①A good way to test whether the students really learn the knowledge well without any preparation.

　　②It’s easier to see which students are really in good command of what they learn in the class and which students are not good, so that the professor can adjust his/her way of teaching and focus to make the teaching more effective;

　　③ A good way to remind those who only review at the last minute of the exam to be hardworking on every single class.

　　2、Disadvantages：

　　SD:

　　①It may lead to bad quiz results which make the professors frustrated since students don’t get good preparation for it.;

　　②It doesn’t make too much sense to both professors and students since all the final exams are going through by preparation.

　　③It may discourage students who have bad performance in the quiz, so that they will have less motivation to work hard.

　　托福口语范文一：

　　There are a few advantages and disadvantages of surprising quizzes.

　　For benefits, first of all, quizzes can be used by the professors to measure whether students have completely digested the previous knowledge that they were taught through the results. In this way, professors can help students to cope with their problems accordingly. Also, students can figure out their weakness via tests and review those incorrect parts so as to have better performance next time.

　　For drawbacks, surprising quizzes will foster a kind of intense study atmosphere, which will farther burden the students who have been already confronted with huge stress. Even worse, sometimes they are not ready for the tests since they have no idea when exactly test will be delivered. Therefore, it is likely for them to gain low scores in test, which leads to negative impacts on their GPA and even the application for college.

　　托福口语范文二：

　　When it comes to advantages of surprisetest, the most obvious one is that it can show the real learning situation ofstudents. Through this way, professors can know how much students really absorband how well they learn. If a student performs well in surprise tests, it meanshe pays effort to review regularly and he deserves to get a higher score infinal grade. Plus, professors can also adjust their classes based on students’performance. But it does have some disadvantages. Some students, they just needmore time to digest what they have learned. Others may be shocked and feelnervous, which will also influence their results. So it may not be fair enoughto all students.
