　　China's bungled drone display breaks world record

　　A Chinese company has broken the Guinness World Record(打破吉尼斯世界纪录) for the most drones(无人机) flown simultaneously(同时), despite them failing to coordinate(协调) for a light show(灯光秀).

　　EHang's fleet(舰队) of 1,374 drones was programmed to fly in set patterns(固定模式/图案), but failed to spell out(拼出) the date and the record-setting number of drones.

　　The South China Morning Post called the event an "epic(史诗级的) fail".

　　EHang has not yet responded to(回应) the BBC's request for comment.

　　The record was previously(此前) held by US technology company Intel, which flew 1,218 aircraft(飞行器) at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games(2018平昌冬奥会) in February.

　　Intel's show was pre-recorded(录制好的) before being aired(投放) during the opening ceremony(开幕式), due to "possible freezing(寒冷的) weather and strong winds".

　　According to the South China Morning Post, EHang was paid 10.5 million yuan (£1.21m) for the Labour Day(五一节) performance in the north-western city of Xi'an.

　　The company may be better known to Western audiences(西方读者/观众/受众) for its efforts to launch(启动) a human-carrying drone service(载人无人机服务).
