　　1. Describe a most unforgettable success in your life. Explain why it was important to you. Include reasons and

　　examples to support your response.

　　2. ■131 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Only people who earn a lot of money are

　　successful. Use specific reasons and examples in your answer.

　　参考分析：

　　不能同意。Only是绝对修饰词。

　　确实，往往成功的一个表象是金钱的多少。

　　钱不是衡量成功的唯一的标准。黑社会分子(members of criminal syndicate)、一些黑心的商人(evil-minded businessman)。

　　有些职业收入远不如其他行业，比如，我国的教师，护士。

　　成功的定义更应该基于社会贡献：甘地(Gandhi)就身无分文(without a cash in his pocket);特蕾莎修女( Nurse Theresa )也是好例子。

　　131 不同意挣了很多钱的人是成功的

　　(1)钱不代表一切。很多人非常富有，但是是因为他们的成就，人们才认为他成功/

　　(2)有些人非常贫穷，如有些科学家，但是他们作出了巨大的成就，被认为所纪念，他们虽然没有钱，也一样成功的

　　(3)有些人虽然挣了很多钱，但是都是非法的，所以他们并不成功。

　　I cannot agree with the above statement that “Success can only be measured by the money you earn.” Although as a society we often judge people by their professions and how much money they earn, it does not cover the whole story of success. For example, my uncle, an ordinary shoe factory worker, has been supporting 5 countryside kids with their elementary school education. Now the 5 kids are entering the best high schools. This is without doubt a success for my uncle, and it simply cannot be judged by money. I believe there are many other people in the world achieving other forms of successes too…

　　3. ■10 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? When people succeed, it is because of hard

　　work. Luck has nothing to do with success. Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.

　　参考分析：

　　nothing是一个绝对词，所以，不能完全同意也不能完全不同意。选择“很大程度上同意”。  指出luck确实存在

　　指出可能导致人们成功的若干原因：诚实、睿智、幽默;执著;肯于做不喜欢的事情[27];

　　10、不同意，实际上运气在人成功的过程中也很重要 (1)先肯定努力是成功不可或缺的一部分。

　　(2)在找工作的过程中，同样优秀的人在申请工作的时候不一定就都会被接受，而两个人的人生道路就非常不同。或者从申请签证的角度来说也可以。 (3)别人帮助可以根本不费努力而成功
