托福独立口语4-5月话题题目整理

　　Task 1: Some schools let students take their exam papers back home and finish them at home. Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of this.

　　As for advantage, you know, bring exam papers back home is much more convenient than taking exam in the traditional classroom. Because it saves students travelling time, they won’t need to go to campus just for the exam. I mean, it really saves a lot of trouble. For me, the distance from my apartment to the school is pretty far, so if I take the exam paper back home and finish it instead of going to the schools. I can save almost 2 hours!

　　What about disadvantage? Well, this taking-home exam may not exactly reflect the students’ academic ability. Some good old free rider problem might occur, you know, some student may copy others’ assignment or exam without contributing to the paper. Although they may get a relative high score, it is pretty unconvincing.

　　Task 2: While discussing, some people prefer to give their opinions immediately, while others prefer to wait and listen to others before they talk about their own opinions. Which one do you prefer and why?

　　In my opinion, I prefer to give my opinion immediately.

　　Firstly, it means that I will not be affected by the others’ idea. All the idea I expressed is original and clear. Therefore, I can get an effective feedback without being interfered by the others. Even if someone’s idea is similar to me, I can still certify that my opinion is original

　　Plus, It always help us save time during discussion. You know, sometimes it is hard for everyone to come up with an appropriate idea just in a few minute, even if they have their own opinion, they might keep silent because they are afraid of making mistakes. So when I get an idea and speak it out, it does save a lot of time and avoid embarrassment.

　　Task 1: One of your friends decided to go back to college after working ten years. Do you have any suggestions?

　　Well, the first suggestion is that attempting to adapt himself/ herself to the campus life immediately. You know, ten years later, going back to college. It’s probably totally different with the life ten years ago, such like new library, school facilities and technology. Therefore, he/she’d better join some student association or clubs in order to making more friends and adapting to the new college life.

　　Besides, compared with ten years ago, college tuition is much more experience. It is impossible for him/her to ask for the financial support from families. So, if he/she is worried about tuition, taking part time job is a pretty good idea.

　　Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: It's a bad behavior to interrupt other people when they are speaking?

　　I agree with the statement that it is a bad behavior to interrupt other people when they are talking for two reasons.

　　First, it is a sign of ill manners if you interrupt other people when they are talking, which will leave a negative impression on them. For example, my brother Leo has a bad habit of interrupting others during conversation, which makes it really difficult for him to enjoy a long-term friendship with others. Because they all think Leo didn't respect them enough when they are talking.

　　Second, it is time-consuming. For example, I used to interrupt others a lot when we are talking because I personally think I have gotten the idea of what they are trying to say, but it turned out to be inaccurate and we finally ended up spending more time making it clear.
