托福写作零门槛句式变化方法

　　如果想写出一篇成功的托福作文，需要在语言上做到什么?在这个问题上，相信同学们的答案还是基本统一的：表意清楚，没有错误，语法丰富，句子复杂，词汇高端等等。

　　这些当然都是对的，完全实现以上标准的作文也必然是语言分数相当高的文章。但是要做到以上这几点，除了大量的语法和词汇积累，还需要不断的尝试，需要老师纠正错误，才能在考试的时候把句子写出各种变化。

　　那么，有没有什么又简单，又能与众不同的句式变化方法呢?

　　当然有!今天就来教大家这一招零门槛句式变化方法，就是使用冒号。

　　在我们进入冒号用法的学习之前，先来看一看文学家奥斯卡.王尔德对冒号的巧妙使用：

　　There are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it. 生活中只有两类悲剧，有些人总是不能如愿，而有些人总是心想事成。

　　Arguments are to be avoided: they are always vulgar and often convincing. 要避免争论：争论总是俗不可耐，而且常常令人信服。

　　”

　　在这些句子中，冒号有什么表意呢?

　　冒号一般使用在什么语境中呢?

　　在托福作文这一类文体中，常见的用法是表示停顿，其停顿时间比分号长，比句号短，有时它和句号是可以互换的。冒号的作用是对前文进行引申、举例、解释或补充说明，还能产生轻微的戏剧化效果。当然，冒号也能用在书信体、引文当中，但是因为在托福中几乎用不到这些用法，所以本文就不多介绍了。

　　我们在托福写作中，冒号最常见的搭配是添加名词，动词短语或完整的句子。

　　来分别看一下例句

　　添加名词：She showed me the books she had just borrowed from the library: two novels by Jane Austen and a book on the history of English literature.

　　添加动词：This is her plan: go shopping.

　　添加句子：She was sure of one thing: she was not going to be a teacher.

　　冒号的用法是不是非常灵活，很容易上手使用呢?

　　但是以下原则必须记住：冒号必须加在完整句子或独立子句之后。

　　以下句子就是错误的：For the camping trip, I bought: food, water, and a tent.

　　正确的写法应该是：For the camping trip, I bought several essentials: food, water, and a tent.

　　最后，冒号能够如何让我们的表达更流畅丰富呢?

　　我们一起用冒号修改一下三个句子吧。

　　第一题，用冒号合并两句话

　　普通标点版：Oscar Wilde spoke about three lies. These are ordinary lies, while lies, and statistics.

　　冒号整合版：Oscar Wilde spoke about three lies: ordinary lies, white lies, and statistics.

　　第二题，用冒号取代such as

　　普通标点版：Most sports programs, despite their excesses, manage to promote the old virtues such as self-confidence, personal responsibility, teamwork,persistence and the ability to win and lose with grace.

　　冒号整合版：Most sports programs, despite their excesses, manage to promote the old virtues: self-confidence, personal responsibility, teamwork, persistence and the ability to win and lose with grace.

　　第三题：用冒号避免句子头重脚轻

　　普通标点版：According to Omer Khayyam, who is a Persian poet, a load of bread, a jug of wine, and one’s beloved are the three things necessary for a paradise on earth.

　　冒号整合版：For Omer Khayyam, a Persian poet, three things are necessary for a paradise on earth: a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and one’s beloved.
