　　1. adj. 谦虚的

　　not too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities; not showing or feeling great or excessive pride

　　例：He is unusually modest for a man who is so famous and successful.

　　作为一个那么著名又成功的人，他却非常谦虚。

　　2.adj. 适度的

　　not verylarge in size or amount

　　例：Despite its modest size, the city has many things to offer tourists.

　　尽管这个城市不大，但游客还是有很多可玩的地方。
