　　常考释义

　　1、n. 措施、办法

　　an action planned or taken to achieve a desired result

　　例：New safety measures were being demanded after last night’s horrific train crash.

　　昨晚发生严重的火车相撞事故后，民众要求制定新的安全措施。

　　2、n. 是……的体现/证明

　　a sign or indication of something

　　例：Her willingness to compromise is a measure of how much she’s changed.

　　她愿意退让一步就表明她已经改变很多了。

　　3、v. 测量(长度、尺寸、数量等)

　　to find out the size, length, or amount of (something)

　　例：The rainfall was measured over a three-month period.

　　对三个月内的降雨量进行了测量。

　　4、v. (长度、体积、数值)是……

　　to have a specified size

　　例：The room measures 6×6 metres.

　　这房间的面积为6米×6米。

　　5、v. 衡量、估量(价值、重要性)

　　to judge the importance, value, or extent of (something)

　　例：His success cannot be measured solely on the basis of his popularity.

　　他的成功不能单单用知名度来衡量。

　　4、The Hellas Basin, which measures some 3,000 kilometers across and has a floor that lies nearly 9 kilometers below the basin’s rim, is another candidate for an ancient Martian sea.

　　那座有大约3 000公里宽，9公里深的希腊盆地也可能是火星海洋。

　　5、The result is that people may not work as hard, or accomplish as much, as they would if they were working alone and their individual output were being measured.

　　结果，人们可能不会像独立工作并接受个人业绩进行评估时一样努力或高效工作。
