　　1. 形容词作表语并位于句首时引起倒装

　　例句：

　　Basic to any understanding of Canada in the 20 years after the Second World War is the country's impressive population growth.

　　basic是形容词在句中作表语，位于句首形成倒装

　　倒装结构：Basic to any understanding…is…

　　正常结构：The country's impressive population growth is basic to any understanding of Canada in the 20 years after the Second World War.

　　译文：要了解该国惊人的人口增长，就必须对二战之后 20 年中的加拿大有所理解。

　　2. than后面主语较长时，可将谓语动词置于主语之前，形成完全倒装

　　例句：

　　With the growing prosperity brought on by the Second World War and the economic boom that followed it，young people married and established households earlier and began to raise larger families than had their predecessors during the Depression.

　　than后面谓语置于主语前，形成倒装

　　倒装结构: than had their predecessors during the Depression

　　正常结构: than their predecessors had during the Depression

　　译文：随着二战带来的持续繁荣以及随之而来的经济增长，年轻人比大萧条中的同龄人结婚成家更早，而且养育的家庭比他们的前辈更大。

　　3.表示地点的介词短语或表示运动方向的副词位于句首时引起倒装

　　例句：

　　Among the species of seabirds that use the windswept cliffs of the Atlantic coast of Canada in the summer to mate，lay eggs，and rear their young are common murres, Atlantic puffins，black-legged kittiwakes，and northern gannets.

　　among意为”在……之中”，为表示地点的介词，位于句首形成倒装

　　倒装结构：Among the species of seabirds…are…

　　正常结构：Common murres, Atlantic puffins，black-legged kittiwakes，and northern gannets are among the species of seabirds that use the windswept cliffs of the Atlantic coast of Canada in the summer to mate，lay eggs，and rear their young.

　　译文：夏天在加拿大大西洋沿岸迎风的悬崖上交配、产卵并抚育后代的海鸟中有普通海鸦、大西洋海鹦、黑脚三趾鸥和北部塘鹅。
