托福写作中常见的语法问题有哪些？

　　在托福写作备考冲刺阶段，同学们开始模考全篇写作，产出了不少原创作文，今天我们就来总结两个高频的“写作中的语法问题”。

　　大家先来看第一组句子，找一下语法问题：

　　Firstly, the passage point out that companies will get more profits because employees can work more effectively.

　　By taking a vacation to places beyond one’s national borders, an individual gain insights into novel custom.

　　总结语法问题1：谓语动词单复数错误

　　the passage point out应该修改为the passage points out

　　an individual gain应该修改为an individual gains

　　大家要注意，不管是综合写作还是独立写作，动词的单复数必须和主语单复数一致。当然单复数一致有一些小技巧，我们简单总结一下，比如：

　　A as well as/rather than/with B，谓语动词单复数和A一致

　　My father’s obsession with saving time and money is absurd.

　　这里的动词is和obsession单复数一致

　　A or B/ not only A but also B，谓语动词单复数和B一致

　　Tim or his brothers have to attend the philosophy lecture.

　　这里的动词have和brothers单复数一致

　　A and B/ both A and B，一般来说谓语动词是复数

　　Both her work on community service projects and her dedication to learning have gained Mary the respect.

　　each of A, 一般来说谓语动词是单数

　　Each of the workers is likely to win a prize.

　　当然有些名词需要大家特别注意，比如means是单复数同形，表示方式方法，我们可以说a means is或者two means are。学科类数学mathematics、物理 physics等，一般表示单数。我们的文章是由一个个句子组成，而动词又是句子的核心，所以需要大家关注写作中谓语动词的单复数，避免语法错误。

　　大家再来看第二组句子，找一下语法问题：

　　The passage argues that a four-day workweek will benefit companies, the whole economy, and individuals, however, in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different view.

　　Admittedly, there are more available jobs. But companies will prefer to let employees work overtime.

　　总结语法问题2：副词however、连词but使用错误

　　The passage argues that a four-day workweek will benefit companies, the whole economy, and individuals, however, in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different view.

　　应该修改为：

　　…individuals; however, in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different view.

　　…individuals. However, in the lecture, the professor holds a totally different view.

　　Admittedly, there are more available jobs. But companies will prefer to let employees work overtime.

　　应该修改为：

　　…jobs, but companies will prefer to let employees work overtime.

　　大家要注意，在标准书面语中，but是连词，用来连接两个句子，表示转折。however是副词，不能直接连接两个句子。

　　比如“我爱她，她不爱我”正确的英文表述应该是：

　　I love her; however, she doesn’t love me.

　　I love her. However, she doesn’t love me.

　　I love her, but she doesn’t love me.

　　今天我们举了两个比较典型的语法问题，当然还会有一些其他的高频语法错误。大家可以认真细致地分析一下自己的综合写作、独立写作文章，再找伙伴讨论，找老师修改。提升写作中的语法准确度，不仅对托福写作有好处，对大家未来的学术写作、论文写作也非常有益。
