Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Physical exercise ismore important for older people than younger people.

A common natural law reveals the simple truth that everything in the world is in motion rather than at rest. Likewise, if a person refuses to move around consistently, he is going against a physical law of his body. Undeniably, doing physical exercise helps human bodies stay in good shape. Younger people involved in physically-intensive tasks are badly in need of health and strength, as are older people. As a matter of fact, both the young and the old should take part in physical exercise.
With regard to young people, joining in physical activities helps them endure hard pressure. "Sub-health”has become a typical word to describe the general health condition of white-collar workers nowadays. Indeed, high- stress lifestyles are a major cause of such phenomena. In order to avoid health problems like sleeplessness, forgetfulness and depression, young people should participate in physical exercise consistently. According to a news article in the Beijing Review Weekly, over 60% ofwhite collar workers working in Beijing are included in the "sub-health" group. Admittedly, younger people are loaded with heavy burdens from work; but this should never be an excuse to ignore potential health problems. It is undoubtedly worthwhile to use some time each week to participate in various physical exercises like yoga, jogging, playing table tennis, or even climbing stairs. Going to health clubs is also a fashionable choice. Medical research indicates that those who conduct physical exercise regularly face fewer risks of diseases than those who never do it. Therefore, with the purpose of combating tough challenges from work, young people should never underestimate the importance of physical exercise.
As for older people, they can also be major beneficiaries from physical exercise. Blessed with enough free time, the old constitute the leading force of exercise. Early in the morning, troops of retired people can be seen exercising in squares, parks or on playgrounds. Such a scene is not rare, but is rather typical in many major cities in China. It vividly presents the importance of doing physical exercise to the senior citizens. Such activities as walking,shadowboxing, dancing and playing ball games are the most popular among old people. Medical statistics show that engaging in these outdoor activities reduces the chances of several fatal diseases including heart attacks, hypertension and so forth. To some extent, physical exercise helps the old stay young, healthy and energetic. Besides, it is also a good opportunity to make more new friends. Additionally, happy communication with others during the exercise keeps them fromloneliness and boredom.
To sum it up, just as Chairman Mao once said, "Health is the wealth of revolution." In a sense, taking part in physical exercise paves the way to one's health and then to is wealth. No matter which age group or gender group one belongs to, participating in regular physical activities is equally important. Therefore, it is high time to make a scientific sports plan and keepto it with perseverance.

一则普通的自然规律揭示了一个简单的道理,那就是,世间万物都处于运动之中,而非静止不动。同样,如果一个人拒绝坚持运动的话,那么他/她就在与自己身体的生理规律作对。不能否认,进行体育锻炼有助于保持身体的良好状态。肩负高强度体力任务的年轻人急需健康和体力,老年人也是如此。实际上,年轻人和老年人都应该参加体育锻炼。
对于年轻人来说,参与体育运动能帮助他们承受住重压。“亚健康已经成为描述如今白领员工总体健康状况的专用词了。的确,高度紧张的生活方式是导致这种现象的主因。为了避免诸如失眠、健忘和抑郁之类的健康问题,年轻人应该坚持参加体育锻炼。根据《北京周报》的一篇新文章,超过60%的北京白领被纳入“亚健康”群体。不得不承认,年轻人肩负沉重的工作负担。然而,这绝对不能成为忽视潜在健康问题的借口。每周都应该利用一些时间进行各种体育锻炼,如瑜伽、慢跑、打乒乓球、甚至爬楼梯,这是很值得的。去健康俱乐部也是一个时尚之选。医学研究表明,那些经常进行体育锻炼的人比那些从不锻炼的人的患病风险更低。因此,为了迎接工作中的严峻挑战,年轻人不应低估体育锻炼的重要性。
对于老年人来说,他们也是体育锻炼的主要受益者。由于拥有充足的闲暇时光,老年人构成了体育锻炼的主力军。清晨,在广场上、在公园里或者在操场上,成群结队的退休老人会聚在一起锻炼身体。这样的场景在中国的很多主要城市都很典型,并不稀奇。这生动地展现了体育锻炼对老年人有多重要。散步、打太极拳、跳舞和进行球类运动是最受老年人欢迎的。医学统计显示,参与户外运动能减少包括心脏病、高血压等在内的致命疾病的发作几率。在某种程度上,体育锻炼是老年人永葆青春、健康与活力的秘诀。此外,这也是一个结交更多新朋友的好机会。锻炼时与他人开心地交流还可以帮助他们摆脱寂寞与烦闷。
总而言之,正如毛主席曾经说过的,“身体是革命的本钱。”在某种意义上,参加体育锻炼为健康铺平了道路,随即也为财富铺平了道路。无论男女老少,经常锻炼身体对他们同样重要。因此,是该制订一个科学的运动计划并坚持下去的时候了。
