　　Diversity is a dominant contributor to the splendors of nature. The same is true with the human world, where everyone is supposed to be a unique individual. In order to be a winner in world of tough competition, one should stand out as different from his counterparts. Such a reality seems to be a common characteristic shared by almost all the professional fields today. It further justifies the significance of uniqueness. In my view, being different from others tends to be a decisive element that can ensure a person's career or academic success.

　　In fact, uniqueness can make one a pioneer in a certain field. If a person has become a pioneer and gained heart-felt acknowledgement from others, then he is undoubtedly a great success. As a matter of fact, being a pioneer is not an easy task. It involves untiring diligence and requires overwhelming courage to differ from everyone else. Definitely, the concrete determination to be unique brings a pioneer to the limelight. History is full of eminent pioneers,all of whom have once made brave decisions to be different.Bill Gates is one of the most unique and successful pioneers the world has ever witnessed. At the moment when he left Harvard, other people couldn't understand why he gave up an education at such a world-renowned university. At last, his unique courage finally paid off. The success of Microsoft made himthe wealthiest man ever.

　　Just as an old Chinese saying goes, "The rarer it is, the more it is worth." Being different from others adds to one's value, which complies with an aspect of human nature. Uniqueness is a way to make a person or a commodity more precious than others. In today's highly competitive job market, job-seekers just resemble products to be traded. If one possesses different qualities, he is more likely to be noticed and remembered. Deeper impressions left on the employers further ensure his success in winning a position.Even in one's career life, presenting different views on a project plan or coming upwith creative ideas will continue to sustain him as a differentiated individual. After all, success is only in the hands of the minority. We may find evidence in a jobhunting program on CCTV: in most cases, thosecandidates who have presented their eye-catching uniqueness are more welcome by the judges and the audience.

　　However, refusing to follow suit does not mean there is no necessity to learn from others. Many factors are combined together to make a man outstanding and successful. The precondition of being unique is to first know others thoroughly. In the Art of War, Master Sun once taught us an essential strategy: "Know the enemy and know yourself, and you can win a hundred battles without a defeat." This perfectly demonstrates the importance of modesty on the way to success. In a sense, knowing others while maintaining one's uniqueness helps enhance one's chances to win.

　　In a word, the pursuit of uniqueness is found in all individuals who dream of accomplishing success. Without doubt, in today's increasingly competitive social environment, no one wishes to be similar to others.Although it takes pains to stand out and exhibit one's difference from everyone else, it will for sure bring about fruitful reward in the days to come.
