Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? An effective leader triesto make others feel that they are part of decision-making.

Inside a group, the leader is often given the priority to make the most important decisions. Everyone is supposed to obey his orders all the time. Actually, the art of leadership involves a series of complicated elements that are by no means easy to manipulate. An outstanding leader should master some essential leading techniques and understand the basic theories in psychology. Indeed, letting others feel that they are playing a part in decisionmaking should be a wise idea adopted by an effective leader.

To begin with, the sense of being valued gives everyone the impetus to strive for a better result.Psychologically speaking, people in the lower position will unconsciously feel honored if the leader takes into consideration their advice or ideas before making an important decision. It should become an effective stimulus that motivates them to work more diligently to improve their individual values in the future. Meanwhile they might also feel freer to contribute their constructive thoughts andsuggestions for the leader to refer to. These elements are all helpful to raise the overall level of a team and promote the working efficiency.

Besides, a team with a united soul is more likely to win. A leader who manages to make others feel they are indispensable may win the hearts of all members. Normally, successful teamwork requires wholehearted devotion and the combined efforts. A formidable force rises up as long as there is the unity of will. In fact, it is far beyond the weak power of the leader himself to reach the desirable target. If the co-workers feel that they are an indispensable part of the team, they would undoubtedly render the strongest support to the leader. Accordingly, his leading power is remarkably strengthened and his position is consolidated as well.

By contrast, authority hinders the smooth development of a group. Those who are working under the overbearing power of the leader might get rebellious mentally. They wo u ld have no other choice but to obey the orders mechanically. Deprived of the right to participate in the decision-making process, they would tend to feel ignored by the indifferent leader. The emotional gap between differentlayers is widened. As a consequence, the leader may gradually lose the general support from others. All members in his team may work like loose sands. The accomplishment of common goals would no longer be ensured. It is also possible that wrong decisions are being made by the leader without being remindedby the outsiders.

In a word, an effective leader is supposed to be one w h o makes everyone else count. The feeling of unimportance could only undermine people's passion to work. As long as all team members know that they are included in the decision-making process, they would undoubtedly become more devoted to their duties. Working efficiency might be improved in the meantime. This perfectly explains how the art of leadershipfunctions.

在一个团队中,领导者似乎总掌握着做最重要决定的优先权。每个人都应当时刻服从他/她的命令。其实,领导的艺术涉及一系列极难操控的复杂因素。出色的领导者应当掌握一些基本的领导技巧,并了解基本的心理学理论。的确,让其他人感觉他们也在决策制定中发挥了作用是一位高效领导者的明智之举。

此外,有凝聚力的团队更有可能取胜。若一位领导者努力让他人感觉他们的作用是不可或缺的话,那么他/她可能会深得人心。通常情况下,成功的团队协作需要全心的付出和共同的努力。只要团结一心就会造就坚不可摧的队伍。其实,单单依靠领导者个人的微弱力量是很难达到理想目标的。同事们若感到他们是团队中不可缺少的一部分,就必定会给予领导者最大的支持。相应地,领导者的领导力会大大加强,同时地位也会得到巩固。

相反,权威阻碍团队的顺利发展。那些在无法抗拒的领导威严下工作的员工也许会产生抵触情绪。他们别无选择,只能机械地遵从指令。由于被剥夺了参与决策过程的权利,他们会感觉自己被冷漠的领导忽视了。不同阶层之间的情感鸿沟就会加大。因此,领导也许会逐渐丧失他人的支持。所有的团队成员如同散沙般工作。共同目标的实现不再有所保证。甚至还有可能当领导作出错误决策时也无旁人提醒。

总之,一个高效的领导是一个让每个人都发挥作用的人。漠视的态度只会破坏人们的工作热情。只要所有的成员都明白他们也在决策过程中有所作为,就无疑会对工作更加投入。同时,工作效率也会提高。这完美地诠释了领导的艺术是如何生效的。
