Teachers are often compared to diligent gardeners who render endless sources of life and the most devoted care to the plants. Without their support and guidance, students could never become useful individuals. Factually, what is gained from the teachers has gone far beyond the limited range of basic knowledge and skills. Their mental influences on the students should not be undervalued. In my opinion,teachers are entitled to present their positive political views and social values in class.

Undeniably, teachers should be required to deliver objective knowledge and train the students' essential skills in class. Their major aim is to make the students thoroughly grasp the essences of textbooks through a series of stereotype modes, including instructing, explaining, assigning homework and giving grades. These just constitute the most fundamental tasks on the part of the teaching staff.

As a matter of fact, good social values cherished by theteachers may produce positive influences on the students, thus offering them guidelines that help them establish correct values. Every qualified teacher will never shun the responsibility of doing so. Indeed, faced with numerous social problems, young students are usually unable to resist the harmful impacts due to the lack of correct mentalsupport and guidance. If their teachers have made their mature and superior-quality views known to the students, they are likely to remain intact before the overpowering spiritual invasions fromthe outside world. Even today I can still recall the sincere words frommy Chinese teacher when she told us about her standpoints on money. In her eyes, one must remain honest and rational before the appeal of personal gains. Under no circumstances should social morals and conscientiousness be betrayed. Such a spiritual treasure has been my clear guidance throughout the years and made me a socially responsible citizen.

However, teachers should avoid showing any biased views to the students, especially those associated with extreme political orientation, religious beliefs or rebellious emotions. Although it is a human right to express one'sviews freely, spreading prejudiced opinions in public might incur unwanted consequences. Therefore, some political views like the protesting mood against a new policy or the evaluation of a resigned political leader should be kept as private instead of presenting themto a group of students.

To sum up, there is no need to completely prohibit the teachers from presenting their favorable views in class.Students deserve the right to learn more than knowledge in class. In most cases, good mental influences produced by the teachers might be more valuable to their future development. Therefore, teachers should be encouraged to guide their students in an extensive manner.
