Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? To remain happy andoptimistic when you fail is more important than success.

Perhaps everyone is familiar with the frequently-quotedproverb "Failure is the mother of success." Without a doubt, the way to success is paved with endless challenges and itis inevitable that one may fail at some point. Thus, it iscritical to maintain a positive state of mind in thesecircumstances. Indeed, the quality of remaining happy andoptimistic when failure looms is more important thansuccess itself.

First of all, those who attach too much importance tosuccess are more likely to feel disappointment when theyface failure. In most cases, having high expectations meanstaking greater risks. If one sets his aim overly high, thechances for experiencing failure are increased. Moreover, thedesire to win at any cost often makes a person overbearingand unreasonably demanding. Minor setbacks might causea loss of confidence, or even produce overwhelmingdistress. Therefore I think it is unrealistic to expect a personwho is down in spirit to accomplish their goals.

Secondly, being optimistic under all conditions is ofgreat importance in a person's life. This admirablecharacteristic not only enables him to endure hardships anddifficulties but also affects other people positively, inspiringin them the courage to move on in the wake of failures. Wemay compare life to a voyage on the ocean. The sailors mustprepare for the possibility of danger and ride the waves asbest they can to triumph over storms, icebergs, and evenpirates. When danger does show up, optimism is thenavigator that leads them ever onwards toward theirdestination.

To some extent, if a person never surrenders to themisfortunes, he may succeed in winning admiration andrespect from people. In this way, it could be said that one'ssuccess is held firmly in the palm of his own hands and thatother people's acknowledgements are reliable signs that hisfuture will be successful. Just as the famous saying goes,"The outsider sees more clearly." One's optimism in theface of temporary loss is sure to touch the hearts of others.

The outcome is less important than the process and allobstacles and failures faced on the journey towards successare extremely valuable. The skills that are used for remainingoptimistic and enthusiastic in the face of failure stay with aperson for their entire lifetime. In most cases, success is notthe absolute and permanent possession of anyone. As withthe constant changes in time and space, success in life hasan ebb and flow. These time-tested skills to stay positive areworthy of being cherished as the most prized spiritualtreasures.

Consequently, for each ambitious individual whostrives to accomplish tremendous success, it is imperative totrain oneself to be optimistic and be fully prepared for anykind of disappointments that may present at any time. Beingoverly obsessed with success can bring disappointments inthe long run. Only by owning his power and remaininghappy much of the time can one lead a successful andmeaningful life.
