Which is better: to have challenging plans for one's future, or to have practical plans for one's future?

Real-life experience has taught us that plans are easy to make, yet extremely difficult to follow through with. In our daily lives, there are probably a number of plans that have not been carried out effectively. Thus, regarding plans for the future, some people tend to make them practical, for fear that challenging plans cannot be fulfilled. However, I believe it is better to make challenging plans for one's future.

Firstly, challenging plans motivate people to be more ambitious in attaining their goals. Napoleon used to say,"Every French soldier carries a marshal's baton in his knapsack." Indeed, he who does not have great ambitions can never succeed. High spirits and a burning desire to reach higher goals should be a prerequisite for those who dream of a brilliant future. To some extent, sketching out challenging plans demonstrates a person's powerful ambitions and iron-willed determination. After all, "where there's a will, there's a way!" So long as enthusiasmdoes not diminish, the chance of conquering each challenge in the plan will be remarkably enhanced. Like a compelling sourceof power, these plans offer the impetus to keep people consistently moving ahead.

In my opinion, challenging plans can accelerate self-improvement, because in order to complete those formidable tasks a person will have no other choice but to make progress continuously. Thus, a higher standard is adopted and inspired effort is made. As a matter of fact, there are a number of ways to achieve faster selfimprovement. These include attaining extensive knowledge on various topics,choosing diverse activities and social events to accumulate rich experience and to consult with the wise to learn what one can from them. In the process of fulfilling one's challenging plans, mistakes and temporary failures will most likely be encountered. This helps a person to recognize their shortcomings, so that immediate action can be taken to rectify them.

However, we should try to avoid making plans that are too unrealistic to be achieved. Sometimes people fill their goals with fancy dreams. Far from reality, these dreams are impossible to realize and such plans towards their fulfillment are destined to be futile. In most of these cases, people loseheart and become frustrated with the disappointing outcomes and then their mental health suffers.

Therefore, all these points should be thoroughly taken into consideration when planning for the future. Without a doubt, in one's endeavors toward success, a million challenges will be encountered. The best way is to face them bravely and overcome them one by one. Thus, it is better to set higher standards for ourselves by making challenging plans, because this will help us to strive towards our goals with added enthusiasmand boundless energy.

现实生活的经验教导我们，计划很容易制定，但彻底执行起来却极其艰难。在日常生活中，我们可能会有很多还未得到有效执行的计划。因此，由于害怕自己不能完成有挑战性的计划，有些人偏向为未来制定较为实际的计划。然而我认为，未来计划具有挑战性更好。

然而，我们应该尽力避免制定出无法完成的不切实际的计划。有时候，人们的目标充满了幻想。由于远离现实，这些幻想是无法实现的，而这些计划的完成也注定会落空。在大多数情况下，人们会对令人失望的结果感到灰心丧气并一蹶不振，随后，心理健康就会遭受威胁。

因此，在制定未来计划时，需要进行彻底周全的考虑。毫无疑问，在向成功拼搏的过程中会出现无数次挑战。最佳方法就是勇敢地面对，并将它们逐一征服。因此，应该通过制定挑战性计划为自己确定更高的标准，因为这有助于我们以更大的热情与无穷的力量向目标奋进。
