Whenever asked about their old days, my grandparents cannot help telling me about how many hardships they experienced in the past. Even today I can still vividly recall the stories describing their starvation and torturing labor.From the scenes in TV series or movies featuring their historical time, the words of my grandparents were further verified. Indeed, in retrospect of their long-gone times, there is every reason to believe that our lives today are much better.

Above all, we are living in peace, which is an important prerequisite of good life. Even though absolute world peace has not yet been realized, the current situations are far more agreeable than that of the past. International relations have been considerably improved and most countries are prospering in peace. The world today will no longer surrender to any regional conflicts or wars and people's well-being is a top concern of many governments around the globe. The possibility of another world war is low. Thus,children in the modern age are able to grow up in harmony and happiness. This could be the sharpest contrast of life when we recollect the time periods of our ancestors. From this perspective, our lives are much better than theirs.

Secondly, we have better chances to receive high quality education and get better jobs afterwards. In the past,very few teenagers were granted the chance to study in high schools, not to mention entering a university. Most of them had to quit school and start to work at a very early age.Illiteracy used to be a dominating problem in the old society.Conversely, the overall education level has been remarkably enhanced at present. In addition to the reduction in the number of illiterates, students are given more opportunities to receive collegiate or even higher degrees, which pave the way for a better future. Meanwhile, the freer job market also establishes a better environment for individuals to fully develop their potential and achieve long-cherished career goals. Needless to say, the accomplishment of personal success further ensures a better life.

Last but not least, life has become much more comfortable and convenient due to social prosperity. Today,ordinary citizens are gaining more wealth than before.Besides material wealth, spiritual enjoyment is also pursued by the majority of people. As the major beneficiary of advanced technology, modern people are living and working under the assistance of numerous intelligent devices, like computers and cell phones. Daily life is also made more pleasant with a vast supply of various recreation choices.Looking back to the past, our grandparents were indeed leading a harder and less enjoyable life.

Needless to say, through the sharp contrasts of different perspectives, it is easy to conclude that we are more fortunate than our grandparents. Visualizing their hardships under those tough situations, all modern youth can fully cherish a happier life today. Thus, there is no excuse for us to waste any precious time. Instead, we ought t o succeed the strong spirit of our ancestors and struggle bravely for a brighter tomorrow.

第二，我们有更好的机会去接受高质量的教育并在之后获得更理想的工作。过去，青少年难得有机会上中学，更不用说上大学了。他们大都不得不辍学，并在年纪很小的时候就开始工作。在旧社会，文盲是一个普遍的社会问题。相反，现在整体教育水平已经得到了显著的提升。除了文盲数量的减少，学生们还有更多取得大学或更高学位的机会，这些为更美好的未来铺平了道路。与此同时，更加开放的人才市场也为充分发挥个人潜力创造了更有利的环境，从而帮助人们实现长远职业目标。不言而喻，个人成功是过上更好日子的进一步保证。

最后，由于社会繁荣，生活已经变得更加舒适与方便了。如今，普通老百姓获得了比从前更多的财富。除了物质财富，大多数人也同时追求精神享受。作为先进科技的主要受益者，现代人在无数智能设备的协助下生活与工作，如电脑和手机。由于有多种多样的娱乐方式可供选择，日常生活也充满了更多乐趣。回顾过去，我们祖辈的确过着更为艰难且极端乏味的日子。

毫无疑问，从不同方面的鲜明对比不难看出，我们的确比祖辈更幸运。回想往昔那些艰苦的岁月，所有现代青年会更珍惜今天的幸福生活。因此，我们没有任何理由浪费分秒的宝贵时间。相反，我们应该继承前辈的伟大精神，向更加光明的未来奋勇前进。
