托福独立写作试题

Nowadays, many people are pursuing an advanced degree to stay competitive. Suppose you are a full-time employee with a bachelor's degree and you have two options. Which do you prefer?

A. become a full-time student to get an advanced degree as quickly as possible; and then pursue your career later

B. try to get an advanced degree while still working full-time

托福独立写作机经范文

In recent years, achieving an advance degree can help employees become competitive in the job market. Although some people think that the employees had better continue with their full-time jobs while doing an advance degree, I hold the notion that being a full-time student before pursuing a better career has a more beneficial effect on those who hope to receive a further education.

To begin with, it is universally acknowledged that studying full-time can make a contribution to improving study efficiency, which is usually accompanied by excellent results. Obviously, the primary is that when employees quit their job, they won’t be bothered to deal with work emergencies while taking a degree course, which means that they can concentrate on their study and be easy to have educational achievements without spending too much time. Thus, employees had better take a full-time course since it can make them study efficiently without being interrupted by work. However, once employees choose to work full-time while pursing a further degree, they lose the valuable opportunity to acquire complete knowledge or skill because they have to cope with many issues in the workplace and are unlikely to stay focused on their study. The story happening to me could perfectly prove the statement mentioned above. I submitted my resignation last year because I expected to devote myself to further education that could help me stay competitive in the future job market. To be more specific, I applied to become a full-time student of an advanced degree course and spent most of my time gaining knowledge in the class as well as researching my field thoroughly in the library. As a result, due to the concentration on study, I rapidly mastered the skills of communicating with customers, which had a positive influence on my job-hunting in the near future. However, even though my friend Zoe also expected to be more competitive through pursing an advanced degree, she didn’t improve herself efficiently because she still worked full-time, meaning that she was often distracted by her work. Therefore, studying full-time is an effective way to help employees enhance their study efficiency since they are not influence by distractions from work.

Besides, it is widely accepted that since being a full-time student can reduce the time which is spent in having an advanced degree, employees can save plenty of money. Apparently, the main reason is that if they choose to study full-time, they can take several classes on weekdays, which greatly accelerates the process of completing a course, meaning that the cost of attendance can be saved. Therefore, to spend less money, becoming a full-time student is a better choice for employees who want to get a higher-level degree. However, if they study while working, it may spend them a fortune on doing a degree because they have no choice but to study at night or the weekend and longer time in school means more tuition and other fees. Take Joe as an example. He decided to focus on an advanced degree without working full-time two years ago. Specifically, it took him one year to complete all the required courses, which usually needed two years, so he saved a lot of money paid for tuition. Thus, since he was a full-time student and could take courses every weekday, gaining an advanced degree didn’t cost him a lot. However, Mark still worked full-time while pursuing further education, leading to the result that it cost him a fortune as he spent three years completing the degree course, which was normally required to complete in 2 years. Hence, to save money spent on education, employees had better give up their job and become a full-time student.

To put everything in a nutshell, I think it can bring more benefits for employees if they pursue an advanced degree full-time and a better career later as a result of improved efficiency and money that can be saved.
