Numerous historical figures have won awe and respect from modern people. They are often regarded as models that set perfect examples for later generations. Indeed, the influences they have produced for human society can never fade away and their brilliant achievements are forever cherished in people's minds. If I could travel back in time to meet one of them, I would choose Martin Luther King, Jr.

First of all, his strong character and shining spirit have won people's hearts. Ever since the first time I read about him, I couldn't help marveling at his outstanding personality.As a noted leader in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, he played an indispensable role in promoting civil rights in America and all over the world. In 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions in eliminating racial segregation and racial discrimination through nonviolent means. Additionally, he also made unremitting efforts to end poverty and stop wars. Without doubt, this legendary personage has produced far-reaching influences on thehuman race. But for his iron determination and golden spirit,he could never have become such a respected international icon. I suppose many people cherish the dream to meet him in person and express the most heartfelt admiration for his character and his remarkable achievements.

Secondly, his I have a dream speech lives as an eternal symbol of his heroic life. It was during the 1963 March in Washington that King delivered this prominent speech.Before the Lincoln Memorial, he established his reputation as the most soul-inspiring speaker in the history of America. In 17 minutes, he extensively and passionately elaborated his sacred dream of equality, freedom and peace.Though speaking without a pre-written draft, he was extremely skillful in adopting the best words to provoke the emotions of everyone present. "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character…" These sentences have been deeply rooted in people's memories for a long time. No one can deny his unmatchable eloquence. If I were fortunate enough to have a face-to-face chat with him, I could learn many speakingtechniques from him and I might become a better speaker in the future.

Finally, I would also wish to tell him about the situations in the world today. Justice and freedom have been widely spread, which is just what he always dreamt when he was alive. If he were told about the advancement of civil rights due to his efforts, he would definitely feel honored and satisfied. Meanwhile, problems like regional conflicts and wars still exist at present. King might offer constructive suggestions on solving such troubles. Thus,world peace could be better preserved.

As a giant hero in history, Martin Luther King, Jr., truly deserves our heartfelt tribute. Even today, his powerful remarks still echo in people's hearts and minds. Although he has passed away, his spirit shall never perish and his sacrifices shall never have been made in vain. If I were given the chance to see him, I couldn't wait to tell him that his sacred dreamhas come true.

作为历史上伟大的英雄，马丁·路德·金的确值得我们由衷地敬仰。直至今天，他那铿锵有力的言语仍然回荡于人们的心田。尽管他早已辞世，但他的精神永不磨灭，他所作出的牺牲也不会徒劳。如果我有机会与他见面，我将迫不及待地告诉他：他神圣的梦想已经实现了。
