Thanks to the devoted care and selfless love from parents, we are able to grow up happily and safely. No one else in the world can be as dear as them. Thus, it is a must for each individual to try to become a high-quality son or daughter. In my culture, being obedient, grateful and responsible are the most typical qualities possessed by good sons and daughters. They have been passed down fromgeneration to generation as treasures. Even today, they still remain the same.

First, in the eyes of many parents, obedience is the most essential quality possessed by a good son or daughter. Just as the old Chinese saying goes, " If you don't take the elders' advice, you will suffer losses." Indeed,children are obliged to listen to their parents. This is where the essence of obedience lies. At early stages of life, people should always follow the guidance of their parents due to their innocence and immaturity. Under no circumstance should they go against the will of their elders. When they finally enter adulthood, their parents' suggestions are stillvaluable and ought to be seriously taken into account. Even though sometimes their ideas may not be correct, direct confrontations should be avoided. In fact, being obedient is a most typical way to describe a good son or daughter.

Second, a good son or daughter should always be thankful to those who have brought him up. Undoubtedly,children are the biggest beneficiaries from parents. Without their painstaking efforts and affectionate care, it is impossible for any individual to grow up to be happy and healthy. In spite of the fact that people can never repay what parents have devoted to them, heartfelt gratitude should always stay in a child's heart and soul. The quality of being grateful is found in every good son or daughter. It motivates him or her to work diligently toward success. Only in this way can true feelings of gratitude be fully demonstrated.Personal achievements act as the biggest reward to thank parents. Anyway, "actions speak louder than words.”

Third, being responsible constitutes another major quality in a good son or daughter. As children grow up, their parents are getting older and weaker, but still deserve a better-ensured life after retirement. Thus, for qualitychildren, it is a basic obligation to take good care of their parents and offer financial support. Meanwhile, spending enough time with them and never letting them feel lonely are also some inherent duties of good sons and daughters.

By and large, these fundamental qualities have been well preserved and passed down through the years. Indeed,they are all good traditions that should remain the same regardless of changing times. As a result, we ought to bear them deeply in mind and try to establish ourselves as obedient, grateful and responsible sons and daughters.

首先，在很多父母眼中，孝顺是优秀儿女具备的最根本素质。中国有句古话，“不听老人言，吃亏在眼前。”的确，孩子有义务听父母的话，这就是孝顺的精髓所在。小时候，出于幼稚与不成熟，孩子应该始终听从父母的教导。在任何情况下他们都不应违背长辈的意愿。在他们最终成年以后，父母的建议依旧有价值，理应得到慎重考虑。尽管有时他们的想法并不正确，也应该避免直接的对抗。其实，“孝顺”是对优秀儿女最典型的描述。

第二，好儿女应该对抚养自己长大的父母始终怀有感恩之心。毋庸置疑，孩子从父母那里得到的最多。若没有父母辛勤的努力和深情的关怀，任何人都不可能快乐健康地成长。尽管人们无法偿还父母所有的付出，但真挚的感激之情应该永远停留于内心深处。每位好儿女都是心存感恩的。这驱使他们为成功而奋力拼搏。只有这样，真情才能得以充分证明。个人成就是对父母最大的感恩回报。无论如何，“行动胜于言辞。”

第三，责任感是造就好儿女的另一个主要品质。孩子长大了，父母也变老、变虚弱了。然而即使退休了，他们仍理应过上更加安逸的日子。因此，对于好孩子来说，精心照顾父母并给予经济补助是他们的基本义务。与此同时，花足够的时间与父母共处以防止他们感到孤独，这也是好儿女应尽的职责。

总而言之，这么多年这些基本素质都得到了很好的保持与传承。的确，无论时代如何变迁，它们都应是长久不变的优秀传统。因此，我们应该将其铭刻于心，并努力使自己成为孝顺、感恩和有责任感的儿女。
