Task 1

Some people think employees should complete their work as perfectly as possible; other people think people should try to do more work. Which do you agree with?

Sample Answer

Well,I think employees should complete their work as perfectly as possible. That is because obviously, if they don't do that, once there are problems found in their work like the layout of documents, the font of words or even the key points are missing in the PowerPoint, they need to go back to modify it, to make it better. Therefore, during this process, they will waste a lot of time on going back and forth. And also, if employees try to make the work as perfectly as possible, it gonna leave a good impression on the boss because the boss will think they take their work seriously, and they are responsible staff. So it'll be easier for them to get a promotion, help them earn a brighter future in this company.

Task2

TASK1

Do you agree or disagree: students must pass a physical exam before they can graduate from high school

Sample Answer

Well, I think require students to pass physical fitness exam is a bad idea because it's unnecessary, and probably it will have a bad influence on their graduation. As high school students, the have heavy loads of study, and a lot of things on their plates. They need to spend more than 10 hours a day on study, you know, having classes, doing homework or preparing for sat and applying for university, etc. It is not difficult to tell that they will not have extra time to deal with this fitness exam. Even worse, if they fail the exam, they can not graduate. Even though school does this for students’ good, just using this opportunity to push students to do more exercise and get stronger, the whole thing gonna backfire.

TASK2

TASK 3

Task 1

Which do you prefer? A job with a high salary but a lot of business trips, or a job with a low salary but no business trips.

Sample Answer

I would definitely choose a job that gives me a high salary because nowadays the cost of living is putting a huge strain on people’s budgets. A job with a decent salary can definitely take some weight off my shoulders. And I can afford to buy anything I want as long as I have a lot of money, like some daily necessities and stuff like that. But if I only get paid a little, I think I am gonna be constantly anxious and even insecure.

Besides, I don't mind having business trips. Traveling gives me the opportunity to meet someone new, maybe they might be a new close friend, a future employer, or even a person that may help me with something else. This is definitely essential to my personal as well as my professional development.

Task 2

Task 3

mental sets心理定势,which refers to a situation in which people tend to rely on tactics that repeatedly brought success to them.

Task 4

2. special shapes of leaves that makes it difficult for water stay.

Task 1

Some college students choose a course of study that will give them specific professional training, such as teaching or engineering. Others choose a broader course of study, such as philosophy or history that will give them more general knowledge. Which do you think is better?

Sample Answer

Well, I believe that it's better for college students to take general courses.

To start with, it enables them to broaden their horizons. For example, if an English major chooses to take a Geography course at the same time, he or she can be a project manager working for an environmental organization instead of just being an English teacher.

Also, it helps them figure out their real interests. Perhaps some students give up academic careers their parents ask them to choose. By exploring different subjects they may find what they are really interested in, and change their majors before it's too late.

So, because of these two reasons I think taking general courses is much better.

Task 2

New Membership Requirement for Student Clubs

University spokesperson Diana Cates announced yesterday that student clubs must now have at least ten members in order to receive funding from the university. Said Cates, “The university cannot justify spending money or providing facilities for such a small number of students.” Regarding the new membership requirement, Cates also added, “The university feels that clubs with fewer than ten members tend not to last very long, and so we feel these clubs don’t offer much benefit for students.”

Task 3

Task 4
