Twenty years from now, people will have more leisure time (free time) than they do today.

Inevitably, the technology and automation have helped to reduce the workload, and people have been able to spend more time on leisure activities. From my perspective, people have more leisure time these days because of the advancements in technology and the changing work culture.

To begin with, what could be hardly neglected is that the advancements in technology have been a significant contributor to the increase in leisure time. The invention of computers, smartphones, and the internet has revolutionized the way people work and communicate. People can work from anywhere in the world and communicate with their colleagues and clients without the need to be present physically. This has allowed people to have more flexibility in their work schedule and has reduced the time required for commuting. For example, a person who works from home can save up to 2 hours a day on commuting, which can be utilized for leisure activities. Moreover, the automation of many tasks has reduced the workload, and people can complete their work faster, leaving more time for leisure activities. Compared with those nowadays, individuals barely could enjoy themselves likewise, since there weren’t abundant things occurring back then.

Besides that, the changing work culture is another reason why people indeed boast more leisure time. The traditional 9-5 work culture is slowly fading away, and companies are adopting more flexible work hours. Many companies are offering their employees the option to work part-time or work from home, which allows people to have more control over their work schedule and enables them to spend more time on leisure activities. Additionally, the younger generation is more focused on achieving a work-life balance, and they are willing to work fewer hours to achieve this balance. This trend is expected to continue, and people will have more leisure time in the future. For instance, my grandparents rarely gave a thought about entertainment in details but obeyed vary traditional methods to accomplish daily routine. In contrast, the younger ones including me literally could have great fun by drastically focusing on how to develop a balance by considering how to arrange more pleasure in holidays.

To put everything in a nutshell, the advancements in technology and the changing work culture are expected to increase the leisure time of people. The availability of the internet, computers, and smartphones has made it easier for people to work from anywhere, besides which the changing work culture is allowing people to have more control over their work schedule, and the younger generation is more focused on achieving a work-life balance.
