Some people believe that businesses should be required to spend some of their profits on social programs that benefit the public and the communities where they operate. Others believe that businesses should be able to decide for themselves how to spend their profits. Which point of view do you agree with?

托福独立口语参考答案

I believe that companies should be able to decide how to spend their profits.

It is true that businesses especially the big ones have the obligation to give back to the society, I still think it’s better if the companies have the freedom to spend their money as they see fit. If some businesses are forced to do spend money, that will definitely cause resentment and make them see it as a chore, a nuisance, so they are not gonna put their hearts into it.

Besides, companies need profits to invest in other important things like upgrading equipment or buying raw materials. So, I think forcing companies will end up having a negative impact on them.
