托福独立写作机经

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Nowadays, young people (aged 12-18) behave badly (for example, by being impolite or unkind) more often than young people did fifty years ago.

托福独立写作机经范文

Children’s behavior in a family usually demonstrate how well they are educated. What could be commonly observed is that young people behave poorly and are less polite or kind compared to fifty years ago, and the reasons are as followed.

The first reason why young people are behaving badly is the impact of social media and technology. Obviously, the main reason is that nowadays, young people are spending more time on social media platforms, which have become a hub of negativity, hate speech, and cyberbullying. According to a survey conducted by Pew Research Center, 59% of US teens have experienced cyberbullying on social media. This has led to a decline in empathy, kindness, and respect for others, as young people are exposed to negative behavior online. Furthermore, technology has made it easier for young people to engage in activities that are not appropriate or illegal, such as sharing explicit content, bullying, or hacking. The anonymity of technology has created a sense of impunity, where young people feel they can get away with bad behavior without facing any consequences.

The second reason is that the decline in family values and discipline. Fifty years ago, families had a strong bond, and parents were more involved in their children’s upbringing. Parents took the time to teach their children proper manners, respect for authority, and the importance of being kind and empathetic. However, in today’s society, parents are often busy with work, and they rely on technology to keep their children occupied. Many young people lack parental guidance, and they are left to navigate the world on their own, which has led to a lack of discipline, respect for authority, and a disregard for the consequences of their actions. Taking our family as an example, my own behavior had always been quite acceptable in most circumstances, since my parents indeed educated me with very strict rules in my entire childhood. However, the younger children in our family seldom behave like that, since they barely show themselves in the family and their parents are quite busy with their own work stuff instead of monitoring them or correcting their inappropriate behaviors.

In conclusion, it is evident that young people are behaving badly more often than they did fifty years ago, due to he impact of social media and technology, as well as the decline in family values and discipline.
