Some people think that schools should assign projects and other work for students to complete over vacation. Others think that schoolwork should only be assigned during the actual academic year. Which opinion do you agree with? Explain why using details and examples in your response.

托福独立口语参考答案

Well, I think schoolwork should only be assigned during the semester.

The main reason is that students are already under a lot of academic pressure throughout the semester, so they need to unwind during the vacation. If they hang out with their friends, go traveling with their parents during the vacation, they would get to recharge for the next semester. In that case, they would become more refreshed and energetic. However, if they have assignments to finish, they will feel pressured and overwhelmed and become less motivated in the following academic year.

Second, the break between semesters is the perfect timing for students to explore their own interests. They can film their vlogs, learn how to cook or do some stuff like that.
