托福写作机经范文

The word pet originated in late 16 century, which is defined as a domesticated animal kept for pleasure. Since the very beginning, it has long been serving as a companion, one of best friends for human being. It is not uncommon to encounter dogs or cats staying alive and kicking around its owners when hanging out with families or friends. Recently, it appears that not only has keeping a pet become a new norm but also increasingly more people are willing to invest their money on it without hesitation. Thus, here comes the question: do people spend too much on their pets?

If we can see the necessity of this, then the answer to the question is self-evident. In contemporary society, the trend of aging population is striking. Given that children of these elderly citizens do not have much time to be together with them due to their burden of hectic lifestyle, the number of empty nesters has constantly increase. Being alone and insulated from people could contribute to the degeneration in brain functions, such as slow response and bad memory, which will eventually raise the rate of Alzheimer’s. Under such circumstance, keeping a pet becomes the best option for the elderly. Through the interaction with pets, such as dogs and cats, the psychological emptiness will be filled by happiness, which leads to a healthy lifestyle.

Except for elderly citizens, younger people also have the need to spend their money on pets. Living in the busy urban area, as is widely known, spending time on broaden social network through typical methods, such as participating in activities, is a luxury. Many people would work around the clock or even burn midnight oil just for affording the bills of life so that there is no time for them to elaborately dress themselves and no mood to cater to interests of a stranger showing up in a party. However, if pets are used to serve this purpose, it would be a totally different story. Nowadays, we can find a great number of vloggers or internet influencers share clips and videos with their pets on Tik-Tok or YouTube. These people and their followers are successfully connected together by one of their common interest, pets, with the help of popular social media or apps.

Therefore, considering all these conditions stated above, there is no exaggeration to say that keeping pets is an integral part of our daily life and it is illogical to blame on us for spending too much on this.
