The reading claims that archeology was faced with serious problems and limitations in Britain, while the professor in the listening argues that all these areas have been improved because of the new guideline adopted in 1990.

To begin with, the professor points out that with the implementation of the new guideline, the first problem mentioned in the reading, which is the damages to valuable artifacts caused by construction projects, has been settled. According to the new guideline, before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.

In addition, the professor stresses that the second problem of insufficient government funds for archaeology stated in the reading is also effectively addressed by the new guideline.

With the implementation of new guidelines, any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.

Finally, the professor believes that the declining job opportunities for archaeologists suggested in the reading is on longer a concern because of the new guideline.

A lot of paid work were provided by the new guideline. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been.

With the increasing incomes, traveling has become one of the most prevailing choices for people to spare their free time. When it comes to the question about which way can bring a better traveling experience, I believe that a package tour with a group is absolutely the best option the following reasons.

To begin with, traveling in a group offers us a good opportunity to interact with others during the trip, resulting in a more impressive traveling experience. To be specific, when traveling in a group, we can always talk, laugh or joke with other travelers, so we will not feel bored even in a long trip. As we all know, unavoidably, during most trips, a large amount of time will be spending on transportation. Under this condition, if we travel with a large group of people, having some short conversations is a helpful way to kill time.

Besides, group tour also provides a great opportunity to know people share similar interest but from diverse backgrounds. It is common that people who travel to the same site may have similar or totally different reasons. Listening to other group members’ stories can expose us to a brand-new world and get a better understanding of distinctive personalities.

Moreover, group can provide essential help when you have any difficulty or emergency. For instance, when you encounter some embarrassing or unexpected situations, you will feel perplexed or be totally in a panic if you are alone and cannot come up with proper ideas to settle the problem. However, if you travel with a group, people in the group may possibly figure out effective solutions and provide useful suggestions. Accordingly, constant interaction with others in a group can produce many benefits for the traveling, making your trip much more interesting and memorable.

In conclusion, traveling within a group led by a guide has many advantages and can definitely contribute to a more enjoyable and relaxed traveling experience, which makes it the most satisfying way for traveling.
