The reading claims that the silver coin found at the Maine site was not brought by Norse to America, while the professor in the listening holds a different view and challenges all the three evidences stated in the reading.

To begin with, the professor admits that there was a long distance between the Maine site and the Norse settlement as the reading suggests, but she points out that since Native Americans liked travelling and were interested in obtaining objects from faraway places, it was possible that they travelled to the Norse settlement and brought the coin back.

Secondly, the professor believes that no other coins found does not mean that the Norse did not bring coins to North America. According to the professor, the Norse didn’t have a permanent settlement in North America and often went back to Europe. When they returned back to Europe, they packed up all their valuable possessions, including the silver coins.

Finally, the professor claims that though Native Americans did not recognize coins as money as the reading suggests, they still might regard the coins as beautiful and interesting. Then they would still be willing to trade with the Norse to get these appealing coins, which could be used to make necklaces or other jewelries.

There is a prevailing notion that parents play an indispensable role in young children’s both intellectual and emotional development. How to utilize the precious parenting time has always been one of the hottest issues that arouse general public concern. Some people may claim that helping young children with their school work can be a satisfying way for parents to accompany their children. However, from my perspective, having fun or playing sports can produce more benefits for both parents and young children.

To begin with, playing together provides young children a good chance to relax and at the same time gain some valuable life experience from parents. As we all know, the life of young children nowadays is filled with countless schoolwork and out-of-class activities, which nearly drive them to be stressed out. Meanwhile, most working parents always have a busy daily schedule and barely have time to be devoted into accompanying their young children.

Obviously, what both parents and children need most is the vent for releasing all the tensions and pressures acquired in the rapid rhythm modern life. Consequently, taking a break from education and playing for a while can fulfil this function well.

Additionally, engaging more in games and sports is an effective way to help young children keep both physically and mentally active, which exerts profound effects on their growth.

From parents’ perspective, what matters most is always the children’s health and growth. Due to the heavy study load brought up by the exam-oriented education pattern, most young children do not have enough time to take regular exercise and keep fit, which will absolutely damage their physical health. As a result, if young children are provided with the chance to play sports with their parents, not only will their muscles and bones be strengthened, but also their coordination, flexibility and other related traits will be improved, all of which can benefit their future life. Besides, playing can also help relieve young children’s stress from tedious school learning and schoolwork, which is conducive for their mental development in the long term. Accordingly, considering young children’s future development, it is of vital importance for parents to spend more time playing together with them.

In conclusion, compared with helping with children’s schoolwork, having fun and playing sports together can be a more thrilling way for parents to provide companionship for young children.
