The passage talks about changing medical information from the paper based records into the electronic records for the following three advantages. However, the lecture contradicts the view respectively.

First, the reading supports that by storing and transferring the medical information in electronic system, the spending on storing can be cut down. However, the lecturer illustrates even using electronic devices, the doctors would not throw away the paper notes for emergency back up. If some legal problems happened, the original paper records with signature will be useful. Thus, even using electronic system, the storage cost cannot be saved.

Second, the writer cites that with standard forms and formal fonts introduced by computer, the errors can be eliminated. In contrast, the professor points out the doctors using electronic records will still use pen and paper to write down the examining results first, and later, the handwritten prescription will be passed to the office staff to enter into the electronic system. Consequently, the errors resulted from interpreting procedure will not be reduced at all.

Third, the author says that a large amount of data coming from the electronic records is favorable for medical research. On the other hand, the speaker refutes that according to the privacy laws, if researchers want to use the medical records for other purposes except for a patient’s treatment, they must follow complex procedures to get permission, which is always refused and forbidden by the patients. Therefore, the changing form from paper data to electronic records cannot benefit medical research at all.

Chasing after their favorite stars, the youth often follow what the stars recommend, purchase their endorsed products and take part in their music concerts. However, we can hardly see some older people do the similar things. Therefore, it is true that celebrities play a much more essential role in the life of younger people than in that of the seniors.

Due to the similar age and personal interests, celebrities are prevalent among youngsters rather than older ones. The entertainers, such as actors or singers, perform in the latest movies or television series, are often beautiful or handsome young people, and the athletes at the peak of their sports career are also energetic and strong young ones. Thus, they have similar thoughts and backgrounds when they grow up without experiencing the history and wars like the older people. For older people, modern celebrities are just like young children, never knowing the pains and miseries of the past time. Thus, the older people may memorize the past by listening to some old songs or watching some old movies, the celebrities in which, have already retired from the industry. The present famous stars do not appeal to elderly people but are considered powerful and adorable among the youth.

In terms of older people’s situation, they often have a big family, both elderly ones and their children and they are filled with work to support their family. Having devoted themselves to the work half of their life, older people often are exalted to a higher position in the company, such as the manager or the director, so they dedicated themselves to the management of the staff and the company. What is more, their parents are already elderly people and may suffer from various diseases such as heart attack or hypertension, so they need to take care of their parents and their children. As a consequence, they do not have time chasing after the latest movies, television dramas or live matches, the famous stars in which are not paid attention to by them. The young, not exposed to such work or family pressure, are prone to entertain themselves in their leisure time, such as watching movies or reality shows, and thus tend to be attracted by the stars and follow what they say.

Overall, the similar age and growing background lead to the main reason why celebrities prevail among younger people. Heavy workload and family stress force older people to control their own time to dedicate it to work or family, ignoring the entertainment and sports programs on media.
