In the reading material, the author thinks that pterosaurs were unable to fly; however, the speaker does not think so.

Firstly, the author proposes that pterosaurs were cold-blooded animals with a slow metabolism, which means that they cannot produce enough energy for flight; however, the listening part argues that according to fossils, pterosaurs had dense and hair-like covering, indicating that they may be warm blood animals because they need fur to maintain their body temperature. Therefore, pterosaurs may have faster metabolism and can supply sufficient energy for flight.

Secondly, the author asserts that pterosaurs were too heavy to flap their wing fast enough and help them keep in the air for a long time. Nevertheless, the speaker contradicted the opinion by claiming that pterosaurs had special anatomic features-- hollow bone, so their weight was lowered and they were able to flap their wings fast enough and stay airborne.

Finally, what the author suggests is that pterosaurs did not have powerful and muscular legs, like birds, so they cannot run fast or jump high off the ground for their flight; however, the listening material holds that unlike bird, they use only two hind legs, but pterosaurs used their four legs to run fast or jump high off the ground, like most modern reptiles—bats, so even they had large frames, they would be able to fly.

Bombarded with various information around our daily life, we are forced to receive news from diverse sources. So, whether it is indispensable to take them seriously or not has triggered a heated debate. A bulk of people contend that we should not be aware of what happening around the world. However, I hold the opposite opinion.

Knowing about events happening around the world is prominent when it comes to enlarging our social connection. For students, if they are likely to read news reports or watch documentaries in their spare time, it has great possibility for them to get along well with others when they participate in activities, thereby acquainting with more students. For businessmen, if they are avid fans of searching websites, concerning economics, sports and so on, they tend to be talkative, delivering profound understanding of certain issues discussed in large conferences and commercial negotiation, helping them impress other counterparts. For doctors, if they are prone to absorb knowledge from authoritative posts or journals, it is natural for them to be equipped with facility to cope with tough problems in their fields, thus attracting other talented people coming for communication. All mentioned above would dramatically contribute to helping people expand their circle.

Another benefit of knowing events around the world is to push people achieve self-improvement. For example, my brother Tom is a high school student, living in the countryside, without advanced technology. What he saw was that he was the top student in his school and firmly believed no one could go beyond him. However, things changed when he transferred to a new school in a modern city due to his parents' work and in order to connect him conveniently, his parents bought him a phone. When he was immersed himself in this new item, he found all students in the school possessed one, even more, which depressed him a lot. Also, what was unbearable was that other students were able to talk about all kinds of topics that he had never heard, expressing their views actively. Tom felt so disappointed, realizing that he was short-sighted. In such a case, he started to apply his phone, browsing websites and taking notes to accumulate, and compensate for what he had never known. In addition, Tom tried to have more communications with his classmates about certain topic and exchange their opinions, gradually being versatile.

To conclude, I agree with the statement because knowing events around the world provides people with more opportunities to make more acquaintances and to improve themselves.
