Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Technology distances people from each other more than it brings them together.

Well, I actually believe that technology brings people closer together.
The primary reason is that with messaging apps and video calls, people now stay in touch regardless of their locations. I mean, even our friends and family are on the other side of the planet, we can still talk to them and see their faces whenever we miss them and share our thoughts and experiences with them, which definitely helps to maintain our relationship.
Besides, technology provides platforms for sharing experiences. I participate in online forums and social media groups centered around my interest where I meet like-minded people whom I would not have met otherwise. This kind of connection fosters friendship that extends beyond the digital world.

Winter Housing Change
Traditionally, the university has kept all residence halls on campus open during the
one- month winter break. Starting next year, however, only Nelson Hall will remain
open for students. Since most students leave campus in the winter, it is a waste of
resources and money to keep all the residence halls open for just the few students who stay. Of course, there could be logistical problems associated with students having to move from one building to another; to avoid that problem, students who know they will stay on campus during the winter break will be required to sign up
to live in Nelson Hall at the beginning of the year and stay there the whole academic year.

Conversation: Man partly agrees (M: Right, big savings. So that part's good. But the way they're organizing, it seems a little problematic. )

Obligate Relationship
Many organisms in nature rely on other organisms to help them survive. In certain
extreme cases, two different types of organisms have a relationship in which neither can survive without the other. In these cases, the relationship is known as an obligate relationship. In an obligate relationship, the organisms are obliged or required to live together because the benefits they receive from each other are so important that each organism living by itself will not be able to survive.

Ants & Fungus(蚂蚁与真菌)

TASK4

Using points and examples from the professor's talk, explain two benefits of
pessimism.
主题: 2 benefits of pessimism(悲观的两个好处)
