  要知道如何托福听力lecture内容选材科普性较强,由于其展现形式与内容,欣欣老师经常会推荐小伙伴们可以通过TED来丰富下刷“托”学习生活。知名博主 Tim Urban分享了一个他通过自身经历总结出人们所经历的“拖延症”种类,以及如何治愈“拖延症”。

  “拖延症”两种类型:

  1. 有“期”,短期拖延

  Well, it turns out that there's two kinds of procrastination(拖延症). Everything I've talked about today, the examples I've given, they all have deadlines(截止日期). And when there's deadlines, the effects of procrastination are contained to the short term(短期).

  2. 无“期”长期拖延

  But there's a second kind of procrastination that happens in situations when there is no deadline. So if you wanted a career where you're a self-starter(自我积极主动的人) -- something in the arts, something entrepreneurial -- there's no deadlines on those things at first, because nothing's happening, not until you've gone out and done the hard work to get momentum(动力), get things going.

  There's also all kinds of important things outside of your career that don't involve any deadlines, like seeing your family or exercising and taking care of your health, working on your relationship or getting out of a relationship that isn't working. And it's this long-term kind of procrastination that's much less visible(明显的)and much less talked about than the funnier, short-term deadline-based kind. It's usually suffered quietly and privately. And it can be the source of a huge amount of long-term unhappiness, and regrets.

  (但有些事并没有明显的期限,比如照看家人、锻炼身体、保持健康、维系感情或者摆脱不合适的感情,这些都是长期的拖延,比那些有短期期限的事情隐晦且不经常提及,但却可能潜移默化成为人们长期悔恨和不快乐的来源。)

  “拖延”导致后果

  It's not that they're cramming for(临时抱佛脚)some project. It's that long-term(长期的) procrastination has made them feel like a spectator(旁观者), at times, in their own lives.

  The frustration is not that they couldn't achieve their dreams; it's that they weren't even able to start chasing them.

  (沮丧来源不是因为没有实现梦想,而是从来都没有开始去追寻过)

  解决方法

  Now, I want to show you one last thing. I call this a Life Calendar. That's one box for every week of a 90-year life. That's not that many boxes, especially since we've already used a bunch of those. So I think we need to all take a long, hard look at that calendar.

  We need to think about what we're really procrastinating on, because everyone is procrastinating on something in life. That's a job for all of us. And because there's not that many boxes on there, it's a job that should probably start today.

  “So I don't think non-procrastinators exist. I think all of you are procrastinators. ”
