  And I want to talk about psychoanalysis today and behaviorism next week.

  behaviorist

  n. 行为主义学家

  Now, many people consider John Watson to be the founder of behaviorism. And like other behaviorists, he believed that psychologists should study only the behaviors they can observe and measure.

  covert

  adj. 隐蔽的, 隐藏的

  As the individual matures, that overt talking to oneself becomes coverttalking to oneself, but thinking still shows up as a laryngeal habit.

  deaf

  adj. 聋的

  She is now profoundly deaf.

  eyeball

  n. 眼球

  And if you do that, you'll discover that you can see rather clearly the eye movement ,that is, you can see the movement of the eyeballs.

  overt

  adj. 明显的, 公开的

  mental

  adj. 精神的,心理的

  They're not interested in mental processes.

  muscular

  adj. 肌肉的

  Like most female athletes, she was lean and muscular.

  manifestation

  n. 显示, 迹象

  What Watson did was to observe muscular habits because he viewed them as amanifestation of thinking.

  sign language

  手语, 符号语言

  What one finds in deaf individuals who use sign language when they're given problems of various kinds, they have muscular changes in their hands when they are trying to solve a problem.
