Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to use personal knowledge and experiences to solve problems, rather than to ask for other people's advice.

If a person manages to tackle difficulties by taking advantage of his own knowledge, this is by all means a fulfilling experience. Solving problems independently justifies his ability and makes him more confident. However, in real life it is inevitable to encounter problems that cannot b e conquered alone. Under such situations, consulting others for advice is an effective way to find the solutions in time.

In the first place, people should be encouraged to use personal knowledge as often as possible. As is generally known, the best way to master knowledge is to use it. If what has been learned is only stored in the mind without being utilized, then it might rust the brain. What's worse, the knowledge itself might even be forgotten or deserted. As soon as a problemshows up, it is time to make full use of stored knowledge. During the struggle toward the final solution, old knowledge becomes alive and refreshed.Meanwhile its essences are better comprehended and commanded. Therefore, even if this attempt to conquer a challenge fails in the end, it is still worthwhile, for the experience has further improved one's personal knowledge and helped him become more capable. He may also be better preparedfor future problems.

As a matter of fact, the process of solving problems resembles that of learning. More new methods, techniques and knowledge can be gained, especially when asking others for advice. On such occasions, advisors are simply playing the role of teachers who offer enlightening guidance. By no means could a student achieve success without the instructions of his teachers. It is also true while combating a complicated problem. Examples are everywhere to be found in our daily life. I once encountered a technical problem with my laptop. Due to the complexoperation sequence, it was beyond my own ability to use a type of software tool correctly and effectively. Fortunately my neighbor, a computer engineer in an IT company, was happy to help. After following his advice I finally became skillful at operating it.

Besides, there is no need to hesitate before seeking suggestions from other people. Just as Confucius used to say, "Feel not ashamed to learn from one's subordinates." Without doubt, modesty makes one go forward, whereas conceit makes one lag behind. If a person is too proud to consult others, then he might be on the verge of failures. Only by holding a modest attitude can possible failures be better prevented.

In sum, to become a fully capable individual, one must appreciate the fact that advice received from others is equally important. Although the quality of being independent is valued in the modern world, one should never give up any opportunity to learn from others. Thus, whenever a problem appears and cannot be solved with personal knowledge, the best choice is to consult other people modestly.

如果一个人利用自己的知识成功地克服了困难，那么这无论如何都是一次令人满意的经历。独立解决问题证实了个人能力，并且使人更加自信。然而，在现实生活中人们难免遭遇无法独立解决的问题。在这种情况下，向他人寻求建议就是及时找到答案的一种有效途径。

首先，应该鼓励人们尽可能经常应用个人知识。众所周知，掌握知识的最佳方法就是应用知识。如果学到的东西仅仅储存于脑中而无法应用，那么大脑就会生锈。更糟糕的是，就连知识本身也可能会被遗忘或荒废。只要问题一出现，充分利用储备知识的时刻就到来了。在努力探寻最终解决方法的过程中，陈旧的知识又重新活跃起来。与此同时，其精髓会得到更好的理解和把握。因此，即便克服挑战的尝试以失败告终，这也是值得的，因为这段经历已经更进一步提高了一个人的知识水平，使其更有能力，而且也可以使其为将来的困难作更好的准备。

其实，解决问题的过程与学习相似。更多新方法、新技巧和新知识可以收于囊中，尤其是在请教他人的时候。在这种情况下，提供意见者简直扮演着给予启发性指导的教师角色。若没有教师的指导，学生是无法取得成功的，在攻克复杂问题的时候也是如此。在日常生活中此类事例举不胜举。我曾经遇到了一个有关笔记本电脑的技术难题。由于某软件工具的复杂操作程序，我无法正确并有效地使用它。幸运的是，我的邻居是一名IT公司的电脑工程师，他很乐意给予帮助。在遵循了他的建议之后，我最终可以熟练地操作此软件了。

此外，在向他人寻求建议之前不必犹豫。正如孔子所云，“不耻下问”。毫无疑问，虚心使人进步，骄傲使人落后。如果一个人因过于自负而不愿意请教别人的话，他/她也许就处在失败的边缘。只有秉承谦虚的态度才有可能更好地防止失败。

总而言之，为了成为有能力的人才，人们必须明白一个道理，那就是，来自他人的意见同等重要。尽管独立的品质在现代世界备受推崇，但也不应该放弃任何向他人学习的机会。因此，每当问题出现且不能用个人知识解决的时候，最佳的选择就是谦逊地向他人请教。
