　　Generation Effect

　　The generation effect refers to the finding that information will be better remembered if it is generated rather than simply read, or we can say it is a way of committing information actively to memory. How well we retain new information depends on how actively we process it during learning. To simply read something several times committing it to memory is not as effective as generating an answer to a question. In business, companies have found customers would remember the name of their products quickly if they generate themselves in the new information.
