托福写作范文

What students require from college experience is comprehensive betterment, or specifically,all-around improvement beyond mere academic and vocational excellence. As a result,every aspect of the society, from students and parents to the government and educators themselves, have been urging universities to re-examine how they can invest limited budget the most effectively. Personally, I disagree with those who prioritize either one of expenditure on academic life of sports and social activities over the other. Instead, I believe they are equally important, for the following reasons.

First and foremost, it is excellence in academic and vocational training that students seek at universities, in which aspect they have definitive advantages over any other modes of education, such as night schools, online training, and self-taught education. To be more specific, it is qualified and well-recognized professors after whom students wish to study, it is highly-advanced and well-equipped labs where they wish to conduct experiments, and it is fiercely competitive yet highly rewarding internship opportunities that they wish to get, relying on the college’s reputation, the quality of its training, and its social network. All the above-mentioned aspects require consistent input and maintenance on the university’s part.Take my university, the highest and most reputable institute in China, for instance. To continually attract the best and most talented students, it only hires the most tried and qualified professors of the time, paying double or even tripling their salaries, compared to other universities, on top of which it carefully maintains a intricate lab system, buying more equipment and materials than other universities, and improving facilities every two or three years even though they are, by no means, outdated, just so that all the students could have the opportunity to use the latest instruments should they wish it. Thus, it goes without saying that, each year, our university attracts the best talent from all over the country, if not Asia.

On the other hand, however, sports and social activities are equally important because they contribute to a student’s comprehensive development, and, perhaps more importantly, they require direct input from the universities. To be more specific, not wanting students to purse a “couch-potato” lifestyle, or go to any random place for exercise, for safety or other reasons,the university must invest substantially in exercising venues and equipment, which most universities in my country do. For example, the standard operation is to have a large stadium,with well-maintained tracks, football, and baseball fields, a gym that offers diverse exercise portunities, from yoga to handball, and and aquatic center, all of which are open to students for a limited fee. Likewise, there are certain types of social activities, mostly industry-related, that could only be nurtured on college level, so long as enough is spent on them. For instance, our university carefully maintains an intricate alumni network, organizing all types of reunions and conference regularly, investing millions every year, just so that graduates-to-be each year can debut in front of the creme de la creme of the industry,finding the most desirable internship positions faster than any other students from any other colleges. There is no doubt that such activities, which cannot be obtained elsewhere but in colleges, are equally indispensable for students.

In conclusion, it is my earnest belief that colleges should endeavour to balance their investments in both aspects of students’ lives, academic as well as social, as they are equally essential to a student’s comprehensive development.
