The school requires freshmen and sophomores to live on campus. Do you think this is a good idea?

Sample Answer

I think it’s reasonable to require all freshmen and sophomores to live on campus.

First, it helps them adapt to the college life. I mean, first-year students usually face many challenges, such as getting familiar with different facilities in school and keeping up with all the assignments. Living in the dorm can save them the trouble of finding a good apartment， so that they can focus more on schoolwork and stuff.

Besides, living in the dorms means that freshmen and sophomores can frequently interact with their peers. In that case, they are more likely to get prompt help from their roommates so they're able to build long lasting relationships and foster a sense of community. And that can lead to really strong friendships, even lifelong connections.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In order to become successful in life, one has to make enemies.

Sample Answer

I don't think we need to make enemies in order to succeed. The primary reason is that enemies can only hinder us. I mean, instead of focusing on how to improve ourselves to become successful, we might become obsessed with defeating them with unjustified tools, like cheating or lying.

Instead, I think making friends can actually benefit us even more, since when we are in trouble our friends can help us out. Take me as an example. Last week I signed up for a singing competition on campus. And I was really nervous about being on the stage and being in the spotlight. When my friends found out about this, they offered to help me practice singing and memorizing lyrics, which was actually very helpful for me.
