Some people prefer to work in a company where they have the independence to complete tasksand work out solutions to problems on their own. others prefer to work in an environment where they are told exactly what they need to do. Which work situation would you prefer? Explain why using details and examples

托福独立口语机经范例回答

I’d like to work in a company that let me deal with problems by myself.

Because this allows me to address problems more efficiently. When encountering an obstacle, I usually want to be left alone so that I could clear my thoughts and try to figure things out independently. I may search for relevant information on the internet or do some deep thinking. In fact, I can better concentrate and would be quicker and sharper when handling problems on my own.

In contrast, if I can get some help from my colleagues, I would not have a better handle on the things that I need to do since I may become dependent on my colleagues, and my work efficiency would be relatively lower. And the next time, if I face the same situation, I would also be overwhelmed by the whole thing, which is definitely not a good idea.

TASK 2

Outdoor Equipment Rentals I recently joined the university's Outdoors Club and have been impressed by the wide variety of outdoor equipment the club has, ranging from kayaks to fishing equipment to camping tents. This got me thinking-what if the university were to give us permission to rent out the equipment to members of the local community when it's not being used for club activities? A small fee for the rentals could be charged, so the club could raise some extra money to fund trips and such. It seems awfully wasteful to have all this great equipment just sitting in storage most of the time, so we might as well let other people get some use out of it.

Sincerely,
Ming Han

Backfire Effect

When a person attempts to change someone else's opinion about a particular issue, they may present the other person with facts that contradict that person's current beliefs. However, instead of changing the person's opinion, this information may have the opposite effect and make the other person feel even more strongly committed to their beliefs than before. When a person reacts in this way, they are exhibiting what is known as the backfire effect. Psychologists believe that the backfire effect occurs because people feel that their values or world views are threatened when they encounter facts that are contrary to the town strongly held beliefs. Their defense is to become more convinced that their own beliefs are correct.

TASK4
