托福听力常考语音现象实例解析

  在真正的托福听力考试中,有些常考的语音现象。大家还是需要在在备考中,重点的来了解这些内容。这对我们的听力的发挥有着重要的影响。下面我们就通过一些托福听力真题,来认识一下这些语音现象。

  下面我们先来看一道例题:

  E.G.TPO 4 Conversation 1:

  3. What does the woman say about her experience seeing a performance of Happy Strangers when she was younger?

  Click on 2 answers.

  A. It was the first play she had seen performed professionally.

  B. She saw it against the wishes of her parents.

  C. She was surprised at how traditional the performance was.

  D. She had a variety of emotional reactions to the play.

  正确答案:AD

  听力原文:

  Librarian

  Oh, sure. Of course the critiques’ reaction(新事物) made some people kind of curious(评价性形容词) about it. They wanted to see what’s causing all the fuss. In fact(转折强调), we were on vacation in New York(新事物之个人经历). Oh, I had to be, eh, around 16 or so(数字), and my parents(新事物) took me to see it. That would’ve been about 1965.

  So that was the year premier, great, but eh, newspaper from back then weren’t online, so, how do I…

  Well, I was impressed(评价). The actors were famous, and besides it was my first time(序数词) in a real theatre. But(转折) you are right. It was definitely different from(比较) many plays that we read in high school. Of course, in a small town(新事物) the assignments are pretty traditional(对small town的评价).

  Oh, well I guess you might think that. But(转折) when I saw it back then it was anything but boring(固定搭配短语anything but根本不,以及评价性形容词). Some parts were really(强调) funny(评价), but(转折) I remember crying(评价) too(并列).

  分析:

  首先分析一下这道题目。先审题,题干里面说她小时候在纽约看这个表演的经历说明了什么,那么首先用her experience定位,找到一个考点:新事物之个人经历,然后,找限定词when she was younger,但是考生们回到笔记中会发现没有这个说法,那么我们就必须考虑之前文章中提到过的同意替换了。那么看一下上面原文中划线部分,有一句话说到:Oh, I had to be, eh, around 16 or so, and my parents took me to see it.大约(or so)16岁的时候父母带她去看的,所以16岁就是when she was younger的同意替换了。定位准确之后就可以找附近的关键词了,通过听力原文中的加粗部分和下划线标注的考点部分可得出正确答案是AD。

  同时,我们来分析一下其中的语音现象。红色标注部分都是考生们常见易错的语音现象实例,我们来看一看。

  ①16 or so

  这个地方在听力原文中是读作sixteen~or so,有连读。那么连读有哪些规律呢?

  辅音+元音:

  A. 在同一个意群里,相邻两词中的前一个词是以辅音结尾,后一个词是以元音开头。

  上文中的sixteen~or so就是符合这个连读规律的。

  因此连读之后,有的同学就感觉听不懂了,甚至会听成sixteen years old。当然,对于这道题,恰巧是同样的意思因此不对做题造成任何影响,但是连读仍然是考生们亟待克服的一个难题。

  同理,上面听力原文中的in~ a,read~ in,when~ I,都符合这个发音规律。

  B. 考生们还要注意一点,当短语或从句之间按意群进行停顿时,意群之间即使有两个相邻的辅音与元音,也不可连读。

  例如:There~is~a good book in my desk. (book与in之间不可以连读)

  连读当然还有其他的情况,我们再看一个例子:

  ②first time

  辅音+辅音

  前一个单词结尾辅音和后一个单词开头辅音一致的时候,合并成一个音。

  因此,first time两个t只读一个就可以了。

  除此之外,连读还有其他的规律,我们简单来看一下:

  r/re+元音:

  若前一个词以-r或者-re结尾,后一个词以元音开头,此时r或re要与后面的元音连读。

  例如:Here~is a letter for you.

  注意:如果一个音节的前后都有字母r,即使后面的词以元音开头,也不能连读。

  The clouds are coming nearer and nearer.(nearer与and不可连读)
