TASK 1

第一套 人际交往

Do you prefer to be friends with the people who share the same opinion as you do or the people who hold different opinions?【重复2023年10月10日线下原题】

Sample Answer

I prefer to be friends with people who have similar opinions and beliefs.

The first reason is that this way can reduce potential conflicts so that the relationship between us would become stronger. What I mean is, if we usually come up with different ideas toward things like which restaurant to go, or what type of movies to choose, we will fall into argument really often.

What’s more, hearing opinions from the opposite side could be fun, but it is also time-consuming to some extent. For example, if me and my friend have different opinions toward political issues or current news, we might end up arguing with each other, or sitting down hearing the other’s thoughts. I feel like we could definitely save those time to do things like studying or read a good book.

第二套 人际交往

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? You should always ask your friends' permission before posting photographs of them on social media.

Sample Answer

I strongly agree that you should always ask your friends' permission before posting their photos online.

The main reason is that it’s just basic respect for their privacy. Like, a photo you think is funny might actually be super embarrassing or awkward for them. They could have personal or work-related stuff going on—you never know why they might not want a certain picture out there. Asking first shows you care more about how they feel than just getting likes.

Plus, it’s really about keeping that trust between you. If you post something without checking in, it can make your friend feel disrespected and hurt the friendship. But just sending a quick “Hey, I love this pic of us—mind if I post it?” takes two seconds and can totally avoid drama. It shows you see them as a person, not just part of your feed.

So asking permission isn’t just some rule—it’s what makes you a good friend nowadays. It keeps their privacy safe and actually makes your friendship stronger.

第三套 社会现象

When traveling, some people like to keep a record of their experiences -for example, by keeping a journal or by taking pictures. Other people prefer not to keep such records when traveling. Which do you prefer and why?【重复2025年3月1日& 2025年7月12日;2022年3月22日】

Sample Answer

Well, I personally prefer to keep a record of my experience when traveling.

The first reason is that keeping a journal or taking pictures during the trip can provide me

opportunities to post those stuff on social media. Therefore, I can get some comments

and likes from my friends and families. By posting pictures on social media like

Instagram, Facebook, or WeChat, I can share those traveling experiences with people

to make the journey more fun and meaningful.

The second reason is that keeping a record of traveling experiences is worth of

commemoration. If not, these experiences will be forgotten one day. But the journal

and pictures can bring me back to those precious moments.

学校在学生最后一学期,要求他们参加志愿面试活动,称能提升就业几率。

Required Practice Interviews

Next year, the university’s career-services center will begin to offer practice job interviews for students, in which students will practice answering the typical questions asked by employers during job interviews. The goal is to help students improve their chances of getting a job. These practice interviews will be conducted by student volunteers, who will act as potential employers asking questions during a real job interview. The practice-interview session will be required for all students in their final semester, when most students start looking for jobs.听力学生反驳:

一是面试不真实,学生准备的问题并非职场面试常见内容,环境也不符合实际场景,导致学生难以认真对待。

二是时间冲突,最后一学期学生有项目等大量任务,面试活动难以融入现有日程。

Buffering

Some animals live in social groups where contain animals are stronger, more dominant, and have better access to resources. Weaker animals, when trying to access resources, may provoke the aggression of the stronger animals. In order to avoid such confrontation, weaker animals may use an infant to help them interact with stronger animals in the group. This technique is called buffering because the infant acts as a buffer, or protective presence, between the two animals, enabling the weaker animal to approach more dominant animals without causing a fight. Scientists believe that buffering works because animals are usually less likely to behave aggressively in the presence of infant animals.Ok, so scientists have seen this happen with certain monkeys like for instance, a species of monkey that lives in Japan. These monkeys live together; several dozen living together in a group and in these groups the stronger males are always first in line for the best food. If a weaker male monkey were to approach the lead males by himself when they’re eating to try to get some food, the stronger males might get angry and try to hurt it. So, the weaker males have to wait until the stronger males have eaten and thus don’t end up getting as much food. But what a weaker male will sometimes do is, it will actually borrow one of the babies in the group; a baby monkey from its mother. It’ll pick up the baby monkey and carry it along when it goes over to the lead males to try to get some food. And remarkably, when the weaker male monkey has the baby monkey with it, the stronger monkeys allow the weaker male to get closer, maybe even share some of the food they’re eating and won’t try to hurt it.
